The Democratic majority in Congress can stop this war in Iraq at any given time, but they instead enjoy criticizing the Republicans for it, when they approved it, and they are letting it go on. Honestly, they like to see the Republicans down, and don't care about any of the problems as long as they can make the country more partisan against the Republicans. They can stop this war now if they wanted to by cutting off funding, but they aren't.
Your anger is justified, but your error is assuming that the majority is unified in this capitulation. The (tragic) failure of the current Democratic majority is one of indiscipline. There are enough of them that abandon the people's mandate and collude with the Republican minority to prevent the public will from being carried out.
