I'm Turkish. I was 17 years old at the time. I liked this song best. The melody still in my ears, never forgotten. Thank you you tube! and thanks, lechfack, for posting this. Oh, memories!....
Hi. You can see "San Remo Festival" which has arrived at the 60th edition. It is in Eurovision and it is the most important music festival (Italian songs) of ever .... it will start at the end of February ... Last year was a really HIGH QUALITY competition ....
@adgano good chosen ranking, italy was great that year, and spain deserved a high place, too, but denmark and especially portugal had very good ones, maybe denmark third and portugal fourth.
i agree with marco, i cannot understand how did the juries vote, giving lot of points to a stupid group that was really ridiculous and had a no sense lyrics such us diggy loo, diggi lee...
I just said it wasnt a hit in the UK - fact. Stop being so sensitive. Strange how non- europeans can be sensitive but when a UK person show such you (european) get all stroppy
I didn't mean to sound sensitive but I did make to implement an argument. Of course it didn't become popular in all countries of Europe - that would take something.
*laughing* Well, first of all, I would´t put too much belief in such information from the Wikipedia. Second: it may vere well have been aired quite a bit after the contest, but that is STILL ovre twenty years ago. It hasn´t been played on the radio here for many years. Believe me, I listen every day
Alice and Battiato have also covered it on a number of occasions; I've both heard a re-enacted duet by both and a solo version by Alice. But still, this version will always hold my heart; it's just so magical.
Never heard Alice's solo version, but I have heard Franco's. It's basically the exact same backing track with Alice's vocal wiped and Franco singing it all. Incidentally, if you've ever heard Franco's 70's material, you'll likely not even recognize it as the same man. Very weird! And Alan Sorrenti's early stuff (like the Aria album) is even weirder!
LOL. funny how that guy always walks behind her and lucks suspicious (I wrote that wrong.)

One of the best songs in Eurovision, and this year Battiato, with Luca Madonia, can represents Italy with a good song called L’alieno.

@tahityann Totally agree. One of the best ones that year. Would have deserved the victory instead of Sweden.

Diggi-loo diggi-ley alla tittar på mig
Där jag går i mina gyllne skor
Jag dansade omkring på gatan
Och hela världen den log
Diggi-loo diggi-ley himlen öppnade sig
Det är knappt man sina ögon tror
åh, jag börjar nästan sväva
I mina gyllene skor

I suppose it never really made it here in Sweden. As I´ve understod it now, Alice still have quite a career, but here you never hear of her.

Here in Belgium it's the same, but sometimes you can hear this song. Here, it's a "classical Italian song"...
Pipothefreak 3 years ago
What are you talking about? According to Wikipedia the song became a huge hit all over Europe following the contest, including in Sweden.
setheurovision94 3 years ago
It wasnt a hit in the UK.

There are more countries in Europe than the UK.

Of course it's still over 20 years ago; I didn't think the song was still a hit. Even the world's biggest hit don't last that long.

I´ve been waiting over 20 years to hear this song again! Never thourgt I would find it!!!
Camilla4277 3 years ago
It's quite a famous song, you know! In Belgium you can hear it regularly, sometimes in the instrumental version.
