Loads of people do these...glitter tattoos not really a new thing. I do freehand ones and they can last for 10 days...until you get bored with them and pick them off (can't do that with a real tattoo). this is a glitter tattoo. The glitter is held on with medical adhesive. Just as "semi-permanent" haircolor washes out after a number of shampoos, semi-permanent tats come off after a few days to week. I think "semi-permanent" is a bit misleading. Looks like some of the adhesive is a bit thicker to add a "3-d" affect but I'm guessing it's also likely to peel off unevenly.

Not everybody wants a real tattoo. For instance if someone wanted some body decoration for their wedding but did not want something permanent, this would be great. Also some people want to know what a tattoo will look like before they get it and can try it out this way. Also, most permanent tattoos are not 3d.
