Let's send some old shoes to Bush. His address is The White House, 1600 Pennsylvannia Avenue NW, Washington DC 20500, USA. Make sure to write on the shoe "from the widows and orphans and all those killed in Iraq".
Do you know what takes the piss? Muntadar was tested for alcohol, drugs and mental capacity because the Iraqi Police wanted to check if he was mentally ill for throwing the shoes.
Everyone knows throwing your shoes at someone is a message telling that person to get lost or shame on you. It's ironic the Iraqi police thought he was mentally ill.. but I suspect the Americans telling the Iraqi police to do the tests. Or may the head of police is an Iraqi Jew.
They probably didn't test him for alcohol or drugs, it's something they put in the media to try suggest Mr. Al Zeidi was crazy. In most US news they did not cover what he was shouting about, so made it seem senseless. The story about alcohol tests, came from 'un-named official'.
Yea I suspect that too, because in Persian, Indian, Arab or evne Turkish culture, we know what throwing shoes means, but to the west, they probably don't understand the underlaying message.
In any South Asian culture, from Turkey to India, shoes are considered the lowest and dirtiest object for obvious reasons, but the throwing aspect is more common in Arab countries. Although its not everyday people throw their shoes at someone, it comes from arguments/brawls where people got so angry words were not enough and they threw their shoes at the opponent. Out of all the things you have on you, the shoes are the dirtiest object, which is why its chosen.
Other factors include: It's also the heaviest object, the easiest object to take off, and good thing to throw + you don't mind your shoes get a scratch through the throw, but you don't want your cellular phone or bag to become damaged. These are all reasons why in Arab countries, they throw their shoes. But the symbol of shoes being the lowest object is present in most South Asian cultures. And spitting is considered worse.
I hate you Bush , I hate you sooooooooo fucking bad, Christianity, humanity, and all three religions with the earth itself, they all are ashamed of you.
Imagine if it really hit his face, the impact would be a million dollar picture.... And considering its Iraqi leather, there would be some bruises on his face.
It doesn't matter that the shoe didn't connect. The fact that he dared to throw it, and his powerful words as he did, truly shows the contempt which Bush is usually protected from, THAT is what matters. Most reporters are too scared to ask tough questions of this criminal. Shukran! Mr. Al Zeidi you spoke for many millions! May you be free and safe soon.
These two shoes are for all the tears Arab, Afghan, Palestinian, American mothers and fathers have shed over their sons, all the bloody tears he brought to Iraq, all the pain in all around the world.

Al Zeidi has just had his sentence reduced to 1 year following a successful appeal.
Given the amount of time he's already spent in jail, he will be due for release in September 2009.

Bush has quick reflexes. But man, throwing your shoes is like, a really REALLY bad insult. I ccan't believe they sentenced him to 3 years for it.

I am curious to know as an American, what does it mean? Is it like flipping the bird over here or spitting on someone or worse?

And dogs are insulted by that, Bush is more that or let's say he is less than a bug...
He shouldn't miss his target, I wish he shoot him with a gun, this "Less than a Dog, with all my respect for dogs should vanish.. every
