I saw them play 4 years ago. Now, it's just Simeon with his oscillator/synth and a drum machine. It was great, and I was surprised at how young the crowd was.
this was the last song of their concert in sao paulo, brazil in 17th of february of 2012. almost 50 years later, this song is perfect. one of the best concerts i ever been to.
I love this group. I hear a group worse than ..... perfect. This must have been a seed band for those to follow. Pere Ubu had to have been aware of this Silver Apples stellar performance.
It's amazing! It's like they've gone forward in time, recorded the sound of a modem and gone back to 1969 to create this masterpiece! It blows my mind every time I hear this! :-D
@Sazzied2 But it's totally '69. Music just hasn't progressed much since then. There was a renaissance, but it's over. Any contemporary music is post-modern.
Technically, it isn't hippie music. The Silver Apples were New York hipster freaks, like Andy Warhol and the Velvet Underground. Hippie music is more like the Grateful Dead.

I have known love and love has won.I burned my fingers on the sun. I've been imprisoned on the moon. I have learned what truth denies. I drank the teardrops from her eyes. I surrendered much too soon. I never heard the warning voice. I never knew I had a choice. Though I never wanted to return. But I have sailed upon the boat That flew when there was room to float. And I drank out of the magic urn.

And I drank out of the magic urn.
And I have slept inside the shade encircled by the love we made. And I have kissed the face of dreams. And I have ridden on the glow that warms the sky with a rainbow. And I have waded in its golden streams. And I have danced between the stars with music sung by sweet guitars. I've done some things that can't be done. And I have smiled inside the storm reaching higher to keep warm. I've known love and love has won. I burned my fingers on the sun
Why am I only hearing about these guys now????? Read about them in a Portishead interview, you can definitely hear the influence(especially in "third").
Always nice to be the first to comment. This band is so ahead of its time it hurts. Mixing electronics, beats with more traditional psychedelic rock - reminds me a lot of The Chemical Brothers, Beck, Stone Roses, etc.

@georgelee43211 you are a square if you think "weird" music is hippie music or druggie music, why can't music just be music, no matter who makes it
KingKongMagnetics 5 months ago
@KingKongMagnetics I smoke on the regular. This is weird and hippie music. Doesn't make it bad, it's just what it is.

You 36 year old bald headed fag blow me

Let go, it's over, nobody listens to techno
