Actually the hit was not legal as most of the Stevens hits were not legal. In hockey you can't leave your skates to hit someone and Stevens always did that. But he always got away with it so why not do it. If the refs don't call it its a legal hit I guess.
on this you can see only one of his feet leaves the ground, that only makes him less stable. his right foot (far side) stays on the ice. the only time BOTH his feet actually fully leave the ice is when he actually hits them, the force pushes them up

I remember watching this game in 95. Steven was one nasty hitter. The only other player I could compair to Stevens was Vladimir Konstantinov. I've seen two guys in one game carried off the ice on a stretcher because of Konstantinov.
I have noticed a pattern in Stevens' hits. When the other defenseman puts pressure on a charging forward, the forward turns away from him with his head down. Stevens seems to be timing it for the moment when the player turns away from the other defenseman and then he nails him.

I hate Osgood, so saying that doesn't affect me. Do the Wings have 9 more points than the Devils? YES. If you think the Devils are better than the Wings, you're sadly mistaken. Actually the hit was not legal as most of the Stevens hits were not legal. In hockey you can't leave your skates to hit someone and Stevens always did that. But he always got away with it so why not do it. If the refs don't call it its a legal hit I guess.

on this you can see only one of his feet leaves the ground, that only makes him less stable. his right foot (far side) stays on the ice. the only time BOTH his feet actually fully leave the ice is when he actually hits them, the force pushes them up

I remember watching this game in 95. Steven was one nasty hitter. The only other player I could compair to Stevens was Vladimir Konstantinov. I've seen two guys in one game carried off the ice on a stretcher because of Konstantinov.

I have noticed a pattern in Stevens' hits. When the other defenseman puts pressure on a charging forward, the forward turns away from him with his head down. Stevens seems to be timing it for the moment when the player turns away from the other defenseman and then he nails him.
