  • HAHAHAHA miniature war and destruction world lol

  • you´r so awesome!!!!!

  • kwel

  • 0:21 ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow ow stop that ow ow ow I'm calling the cops LOL

  • at 3:13 it looks like a tidal wave!!! its well cool, poor mini lego dude

  • Those poor storm troopers, they never had a chance... LOL

Awesomely creative vid, those marble shooters were the best!

  • it was good but the wall wasnt stuck to gether so it just fell over

  • Well... of course. Did you read any of other comments before posting? I've said that several times, as have others. But I thought putting it in bog flashing letters at the start of the video might be a bit distracting :).

  • that tank that ran over the for was epic. By the way how many nxts do you have? I might get one for christmas

  • Glad you liked it. I think I have about 8 to 10 NXTs, although something like 4 are currently on loan to friends or LEGO itself.

  • Haha, got a kick out of the forts getting bombarded

  • 3:12 is epic, looks like a tidal wave! =)

  • Imagine if the world was made out of legos...

  • wow but wear did you get the peaices

  • From LEGO sets of course - various different ones, including Bionicle (for the zamor sphere launchers), Technic kits, some PF motors, Mindstorms NXT, and third party sensors like the IR Link.

  • hey wear did you get the robots that shot from

  • I built it :)

  • u need to use paintballs great vid (like all your vids) 5/5

  • Paintballs would be cool (if... messy), but #1 I don't have any handy, and #2 I strongly suspect they would be a little too "soft" for the launching mechanism. It depends on the spheres being *very* solid, and paintballs (designed, after all, to break) just aren't strong enough.

  • it looks awesome the first time u watch it, but its a little misleading to not have the bricks actually correctly assembled. That's how legos are supposed to be used, not just sitting on top of eachother

  • were the "fort's" bricks actually pressed together or just sat on top of eachother i think they were put together but im just making sure

  • The bricks were stacked, but *not* pushed together.

  • o..............well regardless it was awesome

  • Lol XD, *shoot's* "Sorry!"

  • finally something that can destroy the clones! Great job, i like it very much.

  • wow

  • Glad you like it - I really need to get Ogre, the revision of this (similar launcher, but much more compact, and mounted in an autonomous tank).

  • where did you get the spheres?

  • These are Zamor spheres. They still come in some LEGO sets, and LEGO used to sell a "refill pack" of 10 spheres (this is how I got most of them).

  • the quad action zamor launcing bot is awsome, you should make a bot with it

  • I have started; using the Hailstorm design (I've put it on NXTlog), but modifying it so it is driven by a PF motor. That way I have more NXT motors to use, for instance to control a turret. Thanks - I tend to think it's fairly awsome as well :)

  • do you know the exact firing rate of hailstorm? i saw it on nxtlog, it looks pretty dangerous to be in front of when it is firing, i think you should make a power functions robot that attacks people, or simply create room gaurd so no one touches your stuff. also you should try to make another zamor launching robot like this one, but make it so you don't have to have those high rising towers of ammo, you can also try a fast reloader too.

  • Yes; as I mentioned on NXTlog, 9.4 spheres/sec. As to the rest... well, I think my wife might get upset if I used it as a room guard. :) I have faster loaders (look at DAZLR), but this is the most secure and non-jamming method I've used.

  • cool,, i've been trying to use these Zamor with an nxt but i got tired picking up the 4 shpere i own off the floor during prototyping.. Excellent video (and so is your book you collaborated on btw) haha lov the 8275 at the end. nice slowmo effect

  • Thanks for the kind words - the book was fun to co-write (and QuAZLR, BTW, has been surpassed by Hailstorm - I should put that on YouTube). And after I saw the wall fall down in slow motion the first time, I just *knew* I had to put that in - glad you enjoyed it!

  • NICE VID!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sweet , nice vid

  • I just (accidently!) deleted this comment:

    From poierpal:

lightly packed lego wall I see, still pretty awesome.

Yes, it wasn't really "packed" at all - just barely stacked. Still a lot of fun to do.

  • Thanks for telling me

  • Awsome, im gonna try to butld it

  • If you look in LEGO's 'NXTLog' site for my projects (user 'brdavis42') then you can find the plans for an improved version of this named "Hailstorm". I'm glad you enjoyed it.

  • Great job Brian!

I have to ask though: Where on earth did you get all those Zamor spheres? Just a sec..... There! added Zamor do my spelling dictionary! I love Leopard!

Did you get some sort of bulk pack or did you just buy a huge amount of Piraka Bionicles?

    NXTMonger

  • Thanks. At one time, Zamor spheres were sold in small packs (local stores carried them, and so did S@H). They ended up being about $2 for 10, cheaper if you could find them on sale. The tougher thing to acquire were the bakers dozen of Zamor magazines that are used to feed the firing chambers.

  • ok were the legos put very loosely together for the bulldozer so you could easily knock them down?

  • Yes. If you read the "About this video", it mentions that. The bricks were stacked the normal way (studs up), but not pushed together, so the studs served only to align them, not hold them together. Takes some patient building.

  • Yeah whos the jugernaught now

  • You're a creative person

  • Thank you. I must confess the 1st person to do this (automate the LEGO Zamor shooter) was not me... but I was the 2nd, & had fun taking to towards the logical extension.

  • nice!!really nice!!!!

but i have question how dus the shooting works i don't get that part

    plz help

  • The pistons (red/yellow at about 1:00 in the video) push a ball forward between two plastic "fingers" that are just a little too close. These are forced apart, and when they spring back they throw the ball forward. This is a special piece from some of the Bionicle sets.

  • thxx very much

  • sweet but im aafraid u have two much time on youre hands

  • Perhaps. I guess it depends on what you consider worth spending time on... and here, I was making my three children *very* happy, so it was worthwhile to me :)

  • youve got to show me how to buid this

  • Heehee. Again, go to NXTlog on the LEGO MINDSTORMS website, and search on user 'brdavis42'. There is a version of this there that has actual plans in LEGO Digital Designer.

  • is that bulldozer being used with the nxt brick?

  • In this video, no; the Bulldozer was being driven by the stock IR remote control. However, in one of my other videos (Bulldozer Sumo) the Bulldozers are all under autonomous control of the NXT, using the Hitechnic IRLink.

  • It there a possibility all of you MDPs could arrnaged a nice battle for us YouTubers to watch ?? :D

  • I wish there was a competition in which two teams competed with two robots each...and each teams objective was to get to the heart of the fort by destroying the walls...

One robot could be the attacked(QuaZLR) and one could be the defender like some big robot with trying to screen the walls from enemy fire. Or maybe the defender could try and damage the enemy's attacker.

Is such a thing possible? Or is it too much for LEGO Mindstorms??

  • "Or maybe the defender could try to damage the attacker... is it too much for MINDSTORMS??" No - I'd say it certainly possible. For instance, DAZLR (see my other videos)

has the ability to detect when it is "hit" on an impact-sensitive bumper under the front, so you can already have head-to-head competitions between two DAZLR's

  • wow! put it on a tank base and even more destruction! cool!

  • Actually, I'm working on that. It almost needs more than one NXT (or at least some Power Functions motors in addition), and I'd like it to look better (with a magazine that's more flush with the body).

  • Love It! great job!

  • AHAHHAHAHA

    that's so funny!

  • those storm troopers didnt stand a chance!

Im getting my 8275 soon =)

Btw respect for your Lego addiction =)

  • Amazing! Added to my favourites and granted 5 stars :) Never knew lego could have such destructive powers!

  • The Zamor spheres come out at a very good clip. These are the 1st LEGO projectiles I've really felt strongly about automating, as they will fly straight & true. As to "destructive power", note the brick walls and structures are *not* pressed together, just stacked studs-up, so they're easy to knock apart... but it still looks very nice.

  • Very Good Brian. Very entertaining - and really well put together!

  • I'm glad folks seem to be enjoying it. Honestly, I wasn't as happy with the "theme" of this video, as it's really an excuse to collect a whole bunch of clips of LEGO structures flying apart, rather than a semi-coherent storyline. As to putting it together, thanks... but I have to confess iMovie (and it's ease of use) may have more to do with that than my inherent skills :-).

  • That is a great video Brian! I loved it!

  • News flash; Lego minifigures sue for injury, and file for long term care of PTSD, many are sill waking at night with smell of plastic about them. With the sounds of a thousand zamor balls still haunting them. Politician's to pass new zamor laws in light of this outrage.

In other news: are black cats bad luck? Why are rabbit foots good luck? though not for the rabbit.

  • the minifig was probably not having the best of day. with the giant bulldozer running him over and have walls falling on him. he goin` to be sore tonight!

  • Agreed :-) . He's in there to provide a sense of scale for the wall, but it turns out the minifigs are just fun to watch. If you watch closely, one has his helmet knocked from his hand during a QuAZLR assult, and in an untaped run QuAZLR actually "beheaded" one minifig.

  • nice dude that thing owns forts

  • Yes, it pretty much blasts 'em apart. Seeing it frame-by-frame is really impressive, but there's a limit to how long a video I wanted to make it :-).
