I think Tool don't play Metal, they ARE Metal, THIS is why people like this band, there is no other that can be compared with Tool, i used to love Metallica and Tool at the same time and when i started hearing Tool a little better i got sick of Mettalica, Tool is higher then Metallica, not slightly and not much, but higher in quality of music.

I am going to get so much shit for this but it's my opinion get over it. I honestly think tool is just a rock band that got overrated because every fan happens to smoke a ton of weed and makes the music sound more "spiritual" or "ingenious" than it really is. there i said it. they are so overrated. you disagree? i live in st.louis mo and they play god damn eulogy at least once a day. fuck that shit. i used to like them. but after all they are just a fucking rock band.. get over it.

@AweAttack so unless you listen to mary had a little lamb or the wheels on the bus go round and round then 98% of any music out there is greatly influenced by drugs and pot being one of those drugs. their music sounds spiritual because lateralus and 10000 days where very spiritual albums but i dont think people feel that way about songs like swamp song or hush or jerk-off. which are not spiritual at all. so once u become a better musician than anyone in tool say something then. poo-toes

I honestly think that if the members of Tool heard an average listener say what you just said, they would be relieved to find someone else who thinks they aren't much more than just a rock band. So many people have made Maynard Keenan out to be some kind of musical messiah, he's had to shoot people off of his property with a bb gun. They make great music, they're my favorite band, but their drug-addled fanbase has made them about to be something different than just a great band.

I love that they don't take their music for granted and actually put effort into their music but when people come in to MY favorite band's video's and just talk about how they are copying Tool or sound just like Tool, it makes me mad becuase these hardcore Tool fans need to open their ears and realize that they aren't the only band that is original and makes their music mean something more.
