just saw this film with the family inc neices and nephew aged between 3-6 so one scene in the beginning where new students are lined up to be stamped i found a tad unsuitable for the kiddies and another bathroom scene where a boy in the background is seen urinating but other than these few negative points it was a very good fillm, one of the best of the year. Loved the song and the video for Zoobi Doobi. So funny and so endearing. Aamir Khan has given a brilliant performance as well as the cast.

I beg to disagree that the movie is stupid. In between a Guru Dutt style documentary and generation-X style fun movie, I think the youth will relate more to the latter style.

3 Idiots, in a small but important way contributes to the fact that India should come out with the next "Big Idea", the next generation of cutting edge technology and medicine. My Dad, two uncles, and I read the same B.L Theraja book for Elect Engg. 45 years and same book. INNOVATIVE THINKING is the key. GO FIGURE.

Well, I partly agree with you here, it is important to give the push to the youth of the nation to achieve the next big thing, and not restrict them to tried and tested formulaic methods, but that is only a small part of the movie, for the most part, the movie had been very unrealistic, since you are an Engineer, tell me how difficult it is to get 1 patent, and yet Aamir khan in a small village is shown to get 400 patents, heights of exaggeration.

I agree mate, there is a degree of exaggeration. While its western counterpart may have a different genealogy, Indian movies were born from musicals. Song, dance, and social message. That's how Indian movies are structured. Imagine 3 Idiots a PBS style Frontline documentary. Other than oldies like you and me, not many will appreciate it.

This song gives some idea that the movie is influenced by five point some one. If this film fails it will be clear case of extremely high expectations. Because it includes Amir, the mr. perfectionist, Hirani who has quite a reputation as director and it has to match the imagination of readers who have read Five point some one. Quite a tall task. If this movie can pull it off then hats off to Hirani & Aamir. Because we already have onebad example in Hello which was based on OneNight@CallCentre
