I have a cherokee. I would say I have 40% tread on mine. I have 33x12.50r15. They do great in snow and they grip the ice real good. It snow 12-17 inches aroumd my area last dec/jan, and I went all over town and back roads pulling ppl out and picking ppl up and taking them to work and back home
If anyone knows how these are in snow or ice let me know please I have a set on now but it ain't winter yet and there pretty worn looking for new tires wondering if I should get them again but don't know if there good on ice and snow
I am having a hard time beliving this to be a good street tire. they are what? about $300 a piece? and being mts they have soft compount and will probably only be good for 35000 miles or so. so every 35000 miles you have to drop 1300 bucks on tires. lmfao
@SharpStuff112 they're not trying to say it is a street tire. they are just saying that it performs better as a street tires than other mud tires would
I have 315/70/16 on my 03 silverado and they look great and are great overall except its the front left tire that's wearing and its most likely an alignment problem
I have a question, I have a 2003 Chevy Avalanche Z71 that is all stock I currently have 265 70r 17 tires on it now. I really like these tires! Do you know how big a tire I could put on my rims now? if I went up to a 285 70 17 would I have to buy new rims? and do you know if I was able to fit those tires on them would they rub on anything or would it mess up m drive line putting a bigger tire on the truck. thanks!! love the video be the way.
@todddhel You can put any size tire as long it is the same inner diameter 17”. If your plan is to keep your truck the stock height then I would put the same size tire back on (265/70R17). And you would not have to buy new rims if you went up to a 285 70 17, as long as the inner diameter is the same the tires will fit. To answer your last question, yes, 285/70R17 would rub & no it will not mess up your drive line.
@4WHEELPARTS Thanks fo rthe info!!! you guys rock. one more question how do these mtz tires compare to the toyo open country mt? these are the two tires I can't make up my mind about. which tire would have the longest tread life for on road and which of th etwo are better of road? thanks.
@todddhel When it comes to tires it’s more about the look/style and price you’re going for, most of the tires we carry are pretty similar. Here are some options you might want to look into:
Toyo Open Country M/T: LT285/75R17 (34x11.50R17) Part # TOY360430 (AND A) LT265/70R17 (32.5x11.50R17) Part # TOY360130
OR Baja MTZ Radical Tire by Mickey Thompson LT285/70R-17 M/T5272
I have an 05 Duramax with a 6 inch lift. I am looking for a real agressive looking mud tire, but i also need something that will be good year round in the new england winters. I spend most of my time on the pavment. A few people have told me these tires wear really fast, what do you think?
Will 37" inch MT Baja MTZ's fit on a Ford F250 with 7" inches of suspension lift? I have a 2003 Ford F250 XLT Diesel Supercab and want to lift it and put on bigger tires, give it a awesome aggressive look but not too extreme, just the right size to fill out the truck's body.
@dolphinsattack i was looking at the toyo m/ts in 37x13.50r22 (i know, 22s) for my excursion, and that would fit on a 22x14 rim, and yes it will fit on a 7" lift but you might have some rubbing
i may be buying a set of these in the 38 x 15.5 r 20 i have a 2008 duramax 10 inches lift puttin the bushwacker cut outs on the front seeings how they recently came out for gmc think they will fit? i have 37 13.5 toyo mt on a 20 x 10 , i need another oppinioin so i dont buy em and have em rub real bad, dont mind minor rubbing
I bought a set of these for my single cab 98 z71. they are 285 75 16 paid 908 for them mounted and balanced. so far i have 8,000 miles on them and they are about 50%. they r soft and got ate up this summer. but they will go anywhere iv went through places alot of tires wouldnt. but i will shit down both legs if i pull off 40k miles out of them. good tires dont LAST LONG and kinda exspensive
How do these tires perform in snow and ice? I have a 2500 Hd extended cab shortbox 4x4 with a 6 inch Skyjacker stage 3 lift G80 locker and a 496:) I am looking for a maximum traction snow -ice-mud tire that will give me fair treadlife(40,000 miles)and will plow threw snow like a tank.( Matt tracks are not an option lol)
@billyrhea1 Please refer to the air pressure on the side of the tire and then fine tune to get a correct contact patch. You may find that the tires on the front and rear will have a slightly different pressure based on what kind of load you are carrying.
@1frenchmen7 Since it's a radial tire, you should get a pretty good life out of them. With proper inflation and maintenance, I'd wager you could easily get 40k out of them. Of course this all depends on how much they are used on/off road.
@1frenchmen7 Definitely. I bought a truck with those on it and they were already wore down terribly and they still lasted over a year. I replaced them not too long ago with the same kind and everything and i've had them for a good while now and you can't even tell they've been driven on hardly.
hi!!!!! nice tire 1 question is it possible to put a 35/14/50 inc tire on mitsubishi L200 triton?and how much inc of lift do i have to install? i like big tires specially mickey thompson.......thanks
@lance12360 Actually, we don't receive the L200 here in the states so unfortunately our knowledge in that area is pretty limited. I would suggest checking out some enthusiast forums for your particular model. Sorry we can't be more helpful on this one!
@671hondacrf250r These tires are available in the 33" size for wheels with diameters ranging from 15-20 inches. No matter which wheel size you pick, you should be covered.
i have this tires in my jeep , theyre staring to get ugly cuts , and fall in pieces , i almost use it only on pavement , they have 6k miles , y iam using it at 25 lbs of pressure what its going wrong?
@edgrano Your tires are getting cuts in the sidewalls & falling apart? With the mileage you have on these tires and their mainly highway use, this should not be happening. Do you live in a very hot climate? Are you using tire shine products? The problems could be caused by the tires drying out. Some tire shines are water based and can cause this, or it can be the weather. Your might try running higher PSIs. The deterioration could be due to the amount of flex/bulge cause by the lower PSIs.
@4WHEELPARTS thanks! i really dont live on hot climeta and i dont use any tire shine product , where i live there are many bumps and holes in the pavement maybe when i hit some bump or hole , the tires damage , thanks anyway , i cant rise up the PSi because the ride gets SO HARD and bumpy. i hope they last 50k miles like other ones i use to run in a H2
@Rhoadsy3pro It'll all depend on the year and model of your Jeep. JKs should fit them no problem since they'll accommodate 33s with only a 2" lift. TJs fit 33s with a 3" lift, but YJs require a 4" lift.
@4WHEELPARTS yeah i have a stock '97 tj and i wanted to put 33x13.5s on it just because i want to get that wider look to it. Would i necessarily need to get a stronger axle to accomodate the wider tires? or could my stock axle handle them? ive been getting so many different opinions from different people, some people say itll snap my axle if i go offroading, and other people say its fine, but i was just looking to get some better advice!!
@Rhoadsy3pro In my opinion, I would think the stock axles should be able to hold up but I would recommend checking out some Jeep enthusiast forums to see if there's someone who's been through the same situation and could offer you some direct advice.
@Rhoadsy3pro i have a jk witha pro comp 4 inch lift and baja mdz 35 inch , they bearely specially when you hit the trail and your axles start flexing , i think 33 would fit great , also have in mind the diff ratio , because its gonna get slower
@edgrano Going down to 33s is probably a good choice. The decrease in size will lower the overall top speed you are able to achieve but your vehicle will feel more responsive/torquier out of the hole. I'd say to try it out first and see what you think. If you really don't like it, you could look at changing your gears.
@4WHEELPARTS Are you sure because my dad has a 06 dodge 1500 and he had 325-65-18s on it with just a leveling kit and that tire is like a 35x13.00. He now has 325-60-18s which is a 33x13.00 but has wheel spacers
i have a 98 ford ranger regular cab, step side, standard and want these tires but what will i have to do to put them my truck? I also was wondering if these tires will fit on the sidebiter rims? was thinking 15" rims and 31x10.50 tires
31s should fit on your truck just fine at stock ride height. Just make sure if you are switching out the wheels that you pick up something with the correct offset to accommodate the increased width.
Enthusiast forums are your friend and there are plenty out there for Ford Rangers. Do some digging and check out other peoples set ups. This will help you out greatly.
Hey i was wondering if u could help me on deciding what size tires i should get??? i drive a 2004 gmc z71 crew cab. i have a leveling kit on it and i have 17"x9" pro comp wheels. I currently have 285/70/17 Terra grapplers and I don't like they way they look they aren't wide enough. So should i try to find a good 305/65/17 tire or maybe 33x12.50x17 ???
Exactly a 12.50 wide tire is where you should be looking. The problem is that with only a leveling kit and 9 wide wheels you may run into some rubbing on the bumper and fender unless your're cranked all the way up.
Thanks. i don't believe it's cranked all the way up they put new torsion keys and turned if up just a little over 3 inches. my tires i have right now don't even come close to scrubbing. the inside of my bumper is trimmed just a little bit. But i only had that done as a precaution to make sure they didn't scrub
sorry for all the questions just want to make sure i get the right tire the first time since they cost so much...but how bout between baja claw and mud grapplers in a comparison?
@wake125 No problem! The baja claw and mud grappler are almost the same in how they perform off road. Both tires are very aggressive and if just driven on the street will not last as long as say the MTZ but on road I would still go with the baja claw. It has slightly better on road manners. The Mud Grappler looks good but there are better tires out there.
If you'd like to talk to someone directly, feel free to contact:
i have 38x15.5x15's on my f150. got about 45,000 miles on em and expect to get another 30,000. in the dirt they are top notch but once u add some wet stuff and make mud they dont clean unless ur rotatin em pretty fast
They are a great all around tire. They are marginally more aggressive than the ATZ but still work well in all circumstances until you get into very deep mud.
I personally like the look of the Goodyears but they have not been out long enough to know how long they will last. Everyone that I know running them is happy with them.
I love these tires. They are on my Daily Driver. They handle REALLY good on the street. I currently have about 27,500 miles on them and I am expecting about another 10K out of them. Excellent tire.
The MTZ is a better tire for rain on the street. It definitely is not as good as a dedicated all terrain or all weather tire but much better than an aggressive mud tire.
how much is the baja claw 46'' with rim for land rover discovery i would need about 9 sets of them also it would be 5 tyres in a set insted of 4 regards bradly
sorry bud im in scotland it would cost like a 1,000,000 bucks for me to call u sorry what information do you need and i will give u it is the biggest size of the baja claws and with a standard steel rim and i need 9 sets i hope this helps a tad but let me know

Both tires are very aggressive and if just driven on the street will not last as long as say the MTZ but on road I would still go with the baja claw. It has slightly better on road manners. The Mud Grappler looks good but there are better tires out there.

okay..how does the mtz compare to the mud grapplers? I want it to be able to mess stuff up off road and be desent on the road.
wake125 1 year ago
@wake125 The MTZ is much less aggressive but a much better tire on the street. The mud grappler is exactly the opposite.

whats is an overall better tire baja claw or the mtz? stuck between the 2
wake125 2 years ago
@wake125 The MTZ is a better all around tire. The baja claw is definitely more off-road oriented.

so how are they for just regular 4x4 off road
Rcbsloader 2 years ago
They are a great all around tire. They are marginally more aggressive than the ATZ but still work well in all circumstances until you get into very deep mud.

well i have toyo open countrys right now...im thinking of swicthing to these so what do you recommend? either these or mt/r wranglers
Rcbsloader 2 years ago
hands down MTZ's! they are an amazing tire whether its just winter driving or mud holes they work great.

Excellent tire.

is it good on rain in the streets? cuz i got the mickey thompson baja claw radial and i swurved kinda nasty lol
drummer8988 2 years ago
The MTZ is a better tire for rain on the street. It definitely is not as good as a dedicated all terrain or all weather tire but much better than an aggressive mud tire.
