After that, the play calling by Davis was to set up Hunter for a FG, which is what happened. TX had the better kicker to make the play. The ball hit with a second left which is right. Ok, but that is not reviewable hense against the rules. That is not covered by article 6 because it does not fit the criteria for "egregious" clock error. After every incomplete pass a second or two roles off the clock and it is not reviewed, so if there going to do it on that play they would have to do it on every play.
It was an "egregious" error because it was at the end of the game. Taking one second off the clock at any other time doesn't have an effect on the outcome of the game. Taking that one second off would have decided the game. That's what it's called an "egregious" error.

No johnnyreb1025, texas left that game with one timeout left. Mac calling a timeout was not an issue both he and mac stated that they "knew" time was left. Hintaose is correct, although the call is the right one, it is still against the rules.

First, on every single one of the previous passing plays at least one second ran off the clock and they did nothing to stop that so why was this one any different. Second it is against big 12 regulation section 3 to review a play just to put time back on the clock, it must be under review for another reason such as disputable catch, touchdown, or fumble. that was an illegal review and clock change. they won because big 12 need a team in ship
what was under review was wether or not Mac Brown called timeout before time was up and the refs made the right call Mac DID call timeout as the play ended with one second left on the clock

Exactly. Texas didn't win, the officials won. I was at the game and watched the fall sail out of bounds with the clock at 0. Officials are not allowed to put time back on to the clock unless it's an egregious error (when 10 seconds or so is taken off by accident). When the clock hits 0, it's over.

kind of ironic isnt it crabtree 6 inches from being out of bounds with 1 second left knocks texas out of the championship then colt mccoys pass hits out of bounds with 1 second left and hunter lawrence hits a field goal with 6 inches to spare to send texas to the championship! hookem horns!

Yeah, we do have a terrible offense, but I do like that we surprised a lot of Texans by not getting crushed. (and actually almost winning) That made my day...

It's the fact that Texas had such a tough game against us when they were ranked 3rd and a lot of people expected them to win by a lot where as they barely won and im not saying they didn't deserve to win. honestly i don't see how my previous comment makes me a sore loser but go ahead and think what you want. I'm trying not to man, but I'm sick of people crying about this. lol Really though. Nebraska was SCARY good on defense Saturday. I give a lot of props to that D-line from Nebraska, but the game played out the way it played out...and sometimes, when it comes down to it, when everything is going wrong, the good teams find a way to win, and that's what Texas did. Congrats on the hard faught game and good luck Nebraska on your bowl game! Rep the B12 the right way! Let's get a few Ws for the B12!

Mack Brown, 11 SEASONS, has the winningest record of any coach in the country with over 125 wins....and i think 24 loses, a BCS record of 3-0 w/ a National Championship....so yeah.....his legacy is pretty solid.....Nice one!

Sorry, correction....12th season w/ 128 wins, 26 losses with 9 straight seasons of atleast 10 wins, and 12 straight seasons of atleast 9 wins with a Bowl record of 8-3, winning his last 5 bowl games. Pretty good legacy if you ask me....but all you have to call him is the most winningest coach over the last 12 seasons haha

lmao...hold on....is this 1996? Last time I checked...Osborne wasn't coaching. Don't try to talk down on Mack Brown, because talking down on a coach that has gone 128-26 over the last 11 years is just idiotic. Osborne was a great coach...but you're preaching on shit back in "the glory days", and trust me, there are plenty of great coaches that have coached in CFB, not just Tom Osborne. Joe Pa, Bobby Bowden, P. Bryant, the list can go on. But how many of them are still coaching/winning?

If you wanna talk legacy, Mack Brown won't even be a footnote in college football history, he is barely in the top 3rd of active coaches today. He has had a decent run at Texas, but his overall record won't rate a mention in all time great college football coaches.

His record is 213-100-1, Brown only has 6 years left on his contract and UT has already named Will Muschamp as his replacement. It took Brown 5 years to get to his first bowl game. He definatley will not win a championship this year and Nebraska proved they don't belong in the Championship game and most sports writers agree. Pelini outcoached Brown and as he starts playing his own recruits,I doubt Brown will last to the end of his contract. Enjoy this moment, it will probably be your last! XD

Muschamp is Brown's replacement, but when Brown is ready. The coach-in-waiting deal was brought up by Mack Brown, and presented to the University. He didn't "out coach" Brown, he "out coached" our idiot OC Greg Davis, which is so predictable that EVEN I CAN OUT COACH him. Lmao, Brown has 9 straight seasons with 10 wins or more, and arguably next year's #1 ranked recruiting class. So what makes you think Texas has any plans of letting off?! It's funny, because you come on here acting like you know Mack Brown & his coaching situation, but you really don't know much other than what google is telling you. You could atleast get your facts straight. Mack Brown's first year at Texas was when Ricky Williams was a Senior, the same year he won the Heisman, and the same year Mack Brown won the Cotton Bowl. He has now gone 8-3 in bowls, coaching Texas. 3-0 in the BCS (fixing to be 4-0)...so what makes you think he won't outlast his contract?

Texas doesn't have a chance to beat Alabama and probably will finish 3rd in the big 12 behind Nebraska and Oklahoma(both teams they barely squeaked by this year) my guess is, in the next couple of years the party will be over and Brown retires early or is fired. Enjoy the victory that the officials gave you against Nebraska, your last one till next September. Can't wait to see Mack Brown get his ass handed to him next year in Lincoln. XD

We lose Shipley & McCoy. 2 great players who have carried this team, but people said TX would be no good after VY went to the NFL & a "no name" QB that went by Colt McCoy took over, having 1 of the best seasons ever by a freshman QB. G. Gilbert was last year's top true QB prospect. He knows how to win & has good skills, on top of having a solid & experienced WR corp next year w/ M. Williams, Collins, Kirkendoll, Bukner, & B. Irby (TE). BTW, M. Brown is 7-0 vs. NE, I don't see that changing haha

Nebraska loses only three impact players, Suh, Dillard, and Ohanlon. Pelini already demonstrated that he can out coach Brown. It won't be pretty for Texas in Lincoln next year!

the combination of Suh and Crick is the only reason you guys were able to gameplan and playcall the way you guys did on defense. i said it before and ill say it again, Polini didnt "outcoach" Mack Brown, NE dc outcoached Texas' idiot offensive cordinator Greg Davis. and i agree, because Greg Davis is an idiot! Mack Brown won the game, so who "outcoached" who. Texas has beat NE the last 7 games, it will be the same next year! haha

Yeah, Brown coached a great kick out of bounds and the horse coller penalty that moved Texas about 40 yards closer and into field goal range. McCoy would never had move it on his own! Pelini made Texas Play his game, into a short field for his weak defense.

lmao, You're forgetting that your offense was held to 100 yards and 5 first downs by Texas' defense, and if you know anything about football...or would atleast like to continue looking like you know about football, you would understand that Pelini affected GREG DAVIS' play calling. Texas fans have complained about Davis since last year! All you did was shut down his predictable offense. Maybe Pelini should have coached his kicker to NOT KICK IT OUT OF BOUNDS! What stupid error! lmao

You forget, it was Colt who caught Shipley open for that big game, which led to your slow DB horse collaring Shipley to take him down. That was just THE 1ST PLAY OF THE DRIVE. After that, the play calling by Davis was to set up Hunter for a FG, which is what happened. TX had the better kicker to make the play. Just like your kicker had it in him to kick it out of bounds, Hunter could have choked & missed the FG, but he didn't. TX wins - on to the NC game. NE - off to the Consolation Bowl haha

The ball hit with a second left which is right. Ok, but that is not reviewable hense against the rules. That is not covered by article 6 because it does not fit the criteria for "egregious" clock error. After every incomplete pass a second or two roles off the clock and it is not reviewed, so if there going to do it on that play they would have to do it on every play.

It was an "egregious" error because it was at the end of the game. Taking one second off the clock at any other time doesn't have an effect on the outcome of the game. Taking that one second off would have decided the game. That's what it's called an "egregious" error.

Bama is formidable enough, I give ya that. They're pretty well rounded and given the way Texas played, they need to seriously step it up. If I were Bama, I'd be equally careful about dismissing Texas so easily. I think this season proves that you should expect the unexpected.

No johnnyreb1025, texas left that game with one timeout left. Mac calling a timeout was not an issue both he and mac stated that they "knew" time was left. Hintaose is correct, although the call is the right one, it is still against the rules.

what i dont understand is as many times as nebraska dominated texas on defense how was there not 1 holding call in all of that!? im not saying that would have changed the outcome by no means. regardless as shitty as our offense is but it was amazing to even make it as far as we did. if suh didnt get to mccoy at the end of the game there would not even be 1 second left and hes full of shit for saying that he knew how much time was left i totally agree. but yes congratulations.

either way even if it was against the rules to review that call, everyone saw that there SHOULD have been one second left, so they did deserve that field goal and the win, its upsetting but true. I wish Texas the best of luck in the national championship, bring home the hardware for the big 12

and the ref's made it happen. So according to all rules nebraska got robbed and should have won the game hands down no dispute. However, it cannot be blamed just on that because if nebraska didn't have a division III offense they might have scored more and the last kick off and the following horse collar penalties could also be to blame because without those texas doesn't get in field goal range. But in the end nebraska got cheated for sure.

im not here to rant just here to point out some facts. First, on every single one of the previous passing plays at least one second ran off the clock and they did nothing to stop that so why was this one any different. Second it is against big 12 regulation section 3 to review a play just to put time back on the clock, it must be under review for another reason such as disputable catch, touchdown, or fumble. that was an illegal review and clock change. they won because big 12 need a team in ship

We're upset because the game was stolen from Nebraska, who deserved the win 2 points more than Texas. Texas didn't fight, penalties and the kick that bounced out of bounds gave the game to Texas.

Exactly. Texas didn't win, the officials won. I was at the game and watched the fall sail out of bounds with the clock at 0. Officials are not allowed to put time back on to the clock unless it's an egregious error (when 10 seconds or so is taken off by accident). When the clock hits 0, it's over.

Thats right. There were 24 incomplete passes in that game and on every one of them 1 to 2 seconds clicked off before they stopped the clock. If this is the president you want to set, we need to go to replay on every down and match the clock with the exact moment the play ends. Texas was out coached and out played, Pelini just couldn't get past the crooked officials. Texas will be humiliated by Alabama

That doesn't surprise me. I watched Pelini's press conference, and he refused to talk about the officiating or the last second deal, but you could tell he was furious and knew that game had been stolen from him. Texas will feel his wrath next year in Lincoln. This only made a joke out of the Championship game.
