Representative Jenkins will have a hard time ever gettting re-elected if she keeps supporting the "Fair" Tax aka National Sales Tax-Inclusive aka NASTI, which, according to supporters' (Amer. For Fair Taxation) own data, would raise the avg. effective taxes of the middleclasses (those making from $15,000 and $150,000) and would lower the avg. effective taxes of those making over $150,000. Her staff should check the data for her: tinyurl 593htl, page 30 on, especially Table 13 years 7-8.
I guess the reason Jenkins's reply to Obama's lengthy address is barely a minute long is that she ran out of party-approved talking points. Never any mention of how eight years of Republican policies threw the country into an economic tailspin. Nothing about the dangers—now evident to everybody but her—of letting big business and Wall Street dictate national policy. Nothing about the continuing waste of human lives and resources in Afghanistan. And no remaining credibility.
"Talk is cheap." Indeed, Rep. Jenkins, it is. None more so than yours. You imply unratified trade agreements are Pres. Obama's fault, when your party blocked them. You criticize without proposing meaningful alternatives, and show once again why I was right in not voting for you. Our country needs to move forward. Get on board or get out of the way.
How do you respond to the recent cuts made to education? How are trade agreements with other nations going to put those Kansans back to work? How are Kansans going to compete with other United States citizens on the job market when their education is perilously underfunded, lacking the most basic ingredients for success? Washington has become too out-of-touch with the reality faced by Americans and there isn't any possible way to rectify the damage our representatives have caused.
Please share with us Congresswoman Jenkins what kinds of jobs those trade agreements will create in the Great State of Kansas. As you say, "talk is cheap". I also still haven't heard any specifics as to what your alternative is to Obama-care for the working poor or that segment of the Manhattan community that is unemployed.
Lynn, We need to cut spending. There are ways to cut spending without gutting some of the needed spending. Foreign aid, if we can't take care of our country why are we sending out so much to other countries? We send aid to countries that are basically our enemies, that needs to stop now.
The United Nations has been supported by the U.S. for too long. It's time to de-fund the UN and have them move out of the U.S.
The Obama health care plan will not work. gut it and fix the problems.
Representative Jenkins, I firmly agree with your statement and thought those very thought as I watched him speak. A question that I have, how can we impact the senate for similar actions the house took on the bill to repeal the health bill? Hang in there. Here is my support for you, Ron DePriest
My dearest representative, who I have yet to vote for,
as your constituent who continues to oppose your dogma,
I understand that you are at the whims of your party but, if you believe like your party:
The best thing for America is Obama out of office in 2010,
Then I disagree, I had to drop out of college because I can't pay for it, now I can't find a job, so thanks again for continuing to oppose Obama's every effort to give me a lift. Maybe I'm just not responsible. Are you?
The world is tough all over. I can have concern for you having to drop out of college because you couldn't afford it, I couldn't afford it in the first place and had to make do with what I could. You shouldn't be complaining about your situation you should be moving towards a solution. Your last comment about being responsible is something that can't be proven. If you had planned on sitting back and waiting for the government to bail you out, you are not responsible.
@semilogical You're right the world is tough all over, and I don't mean to complain, I take full responsibility for my situation, though I did not choose it, and I know a lot of people have it much worse than I do. My solution? Look for a job. And you're right responsibility can't be proven. I haven't ever asked the government to help me. All I'm saying is that my representative isn't helping and therefore is not representing me, my interests, or my community's interest, which is simply opinion.
Life goes on, keep doing what you can. College can wait, but don't wait until it's too late. Once you get a job do night classes and pay as you go. I busted my butt and still didn't get a degree but am an engineer now. Hard work pays off and decent companies will work with you. Don't depend on the government for anything, you will always come up dry. Always consider that you are the solution to your problems.
@semilogical Well, it's people like you that give the younger generation hope. Yet I don't think that I could get by without a degree today. Perhaps if you could share some of those decent companies, I'd be happy to work as hard as I could. I know the government won't help(whether I'd like it to or not), yet I still hold hope for our government, "We the People... in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish justice, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare..."

@dragio44 I see jobs all the time that are offered, some people are not interested, but maybe
they should check out ALL jobs which are open! I see Target warehouse, Home Depo previously had
openings, WalMart, McDonald's, both hospitals have openings occasionally & lots of others!
I never know if those complaining just want to get big bucks for little work, or just don't want to work!
