I like your version...would like to know more about Annie, I knew her on the markets about twenty years ago...I have never heard her sing....this is an ode to her...it would be great to hear her too dont you think....
I fell in love with this song while traveling through Scotland a few years ago. A young kid showed up at "Bothy Night," and sang this song. The rest of the program was dire, but the kid--and the song--blew me away. I scribbled the words I could make out on a napkin. Then, when I got back to the States, I scoured the internet to find the song. Today I found your version and think it's the best of them all. Lovely. Thanks. Betsy
The first time I heard this song was at a pub in Donegal when I was 12 yrs old with my father. My dad and I fell in love with the song back then. I love RT's version, but nothing could top the guy in the bar 15 years ago. I am 27 now and my father passed recently. This song means a lot to me and I have been searching for that perfect take on this song ever since I was 12. This one is pretty darn close. Nice work.
neat version , love the pace of it, only RT can do it slow and keep it interesting. Didnt like Christy Moores version, changing words and a few other bits ,but love most of his stuff.I do a bar chord rocky version ...purely for my own enjoyment.Keep on rockin in the free world...what Bush has left of it.
Hi Gerry,I'm an Irishman who fell in love with Christy Moore's version but really like your take on it.....lovely stuff....you should play over here at the bar i work
Hi Gerry.....finally back online a year later. We moved out into the country which unfortunately for a long period of time wasn't broadband compatible....aswell as hoping you could play over here i'd love to hear some demos if you have any please reply Rory
I like the simplicity of your accompaniment. I've been working on doing like RT does for quite a while now, and it's really hard. It' nice to hear other takes on it.
Lovely version sir! Class!

Nice work! You need to calm those "playing live jitters" though, it's a bit on the fast side.

Thanks
But I outgrew the "playing live jitters" about 30 years ago ;-)
My version is meant to be that speed
