I think he might've given you a shot of adrenaline. If you don't have asthma medicine in reach, have straight black coffee. The caffeine in it is supposed to help you.
Are you in Fukuoka? My grandmother is from Fukuoka, and I live in Busan in Korea - which you can take a ferry right into Fukuoka from .. I'd love to visit sometime soon^^
A hospital horror story i have is when i went to my friends house, long story short i had a knife in my back ( literally ) and i was waiting in an Emergency Room being interrogated by cops because they thought there was an argument when there wasn't. My friends-mothers-boyfriend had a knife it his pocket and he took it out really fast and lost his grip and it flew straight into my back. It hurt a lot and he ended up getting arrested for something completely different.
Hehe, I stayed a little while in the UK and had to visit a hospital there. I must say I was impressed at how clean and tidy it was. Vast improvement over our hospitals here and much more efficient. Anyway, I don't like the lack of privacy in Japanese hospitals. When I talk to the doctor I want it to be private, not all the other patients just outside the door listening in through a thin curtain. Also, I don't like Kanpo medications, they don't work and are only placebos.

I misread the title as Japanese "Hotels" are scary, and I was just going to say that I've had a lot of fun in Japanese hotels, lol. Can't say the same for hospitals, though. :-(
I had to have all my wisdom teath out, wasn't too bad I was put to sleep for the operation and recovered in a few weeks. if the pain keeps coming back you might need an operation.
You remind me of... kuchisake Onna O_o well it's not because your face of course. It's because... you wear that... LOL just joking! By the way, get well soon okay! Ah or you already okay now.. -__-;
Dude, at least you didn't get appendicitis. You never want to stay more than a week in a hospital in Japan. Some of the nurses are vicious with those IV needles. X_x
First time... ushered me into a tiny room with another sick patient sitting about an arms distance away staring at me... outside what I now know is the electronics recycling truck plays this really sad creepy clown music.. and the nurse comes over with an old glass thermometer motioning me to go ahead so I put it in my mouth and then she shakes her head and screams then takes it and puts it under my arm. I was soooo disgusted and horrified. Then I dropped it and it broke.
@yaoifreak45 if they sedate you it won't hurt even a little. I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed, i just kinda went to sleep and woke up without my wisdom teeth. Though for several hours after the operation you'll be high on sedatives and painkillers. Then for about a week it is just mostly inconvenient not being able to eat solid food. But hey, because I was "legally impaired" for 48 hours, I managed to get excused from one of my final exams in high school.
You probably already know but the injection they were going to give you was most likely atropine or nor-epinephrine. Still that would make me super anxious knowing that any of those drugs would make my respiration and heart rate skyrocket on top of the super creepy hospital.
Lol I've always hated the hospital cas I'm so afriad of needles. It's used to take like 4 nurses or docter to hold me down when I was a little kid because I was so afriad of needles and medicen. Now I handle it a little better but I still hate it lol
When I was a young girl, I had a long of problems with heath. Therefore
I had to go to the hospital a lot, which was
scary for a little girl. Anywho, they strapped me to a table, that stood vertical, gave me this yellow powder, water and told me to drink. Well, the powder expanded. I choked slowly. Blacked out.
Continued: Anyways, this was in a country hospital so it looked nice and was fairly quiet. However, going through that experience was terrifying, and was pointless. Or so I thought. I didn't have what they were looking for, but I did when I was a baby. Must have outgrew it. That is my story. I have more that is pretty sick. Get better okay. Teeth are dangerous when left alone. Antibiotics. Sleep. Hot salt water. Rinse mouth. Be safe! Kattie
OMG, are you all right ? Hopefully, you will get better. Anyway, when I pulled out my wisdom teeth, I made an neckless with my own teeth. It looks pretty cool, acturally.
@Ciaela "I love how this has been favorited six times. IS MY PAIN FUNNY TO YOU GUYS?"
No, it's because we're sad to see you in pain and we empathize >_>;; Watching this made me wanna give you a big hug and try to cheer you up. Though uh... I'm a little late in posting... seems you've long since gotten better. Which is good to hear.
could your body possibly be fighting off an infection now? cuz i hear glands get swollen when your immune system is hard at work..
and i wasn't allowed to suck on a straw when i had my wisdom teeth pulled cuz somehow it pulled on my stitches or something or something? all i know is all 4 got pulled in one day, i looked like a chipmunk and things were POURED into my mouth cuz I couldn't open it. teehee
btw u should draw a smile or fangs on your mask if you have to wear it out :D
hospitals are scary scary places and they smell funny. But if everything is that swollen and yucky you should go :( if it spread from your throat to your teeth it could spread up your ears or nerves and THAT... well that would suck balls. Feel better soon! <3
I recently spent a week in a Japanese hospital. The care was very good (though quite expensive even with insurance) and I realize now that I would have been in pretty bad shape if I had not let them admit me. I hope that you are better soon. Do take care of yourself.
You should go to the hospital! My experiences in Japan have all been amazing. I usually wait to go to the hospital until I return to Japan because I like it so much better! (Then again, I come from the U.S. where health care is a disgusting capitalist machine...)
You should try another hospital, 90% of them are privately owned so they are all different. I am sure you will find one you like:)
Comment Fail. You just said that healthcare in America is a disgusting capitalist machine, then say that 90% of the hospitals in Japan are privately owned, and yet better somehow.
Did you watch the video at all? She said that the hospital she went to sucked.
Every hospital I've went to in the U.S. has been clean, the staff polite and the srevice prompt. If it's a capitalist machine, then so much the better. Our hospitals are better than anybody else's in the world.
Comment Fail. You just said that healthcare in America is a disgusting capitalist machine, then say that 90% of Japan's hospitals are privately owned.

If it's a capitalist machine, then so much the better. Our hospitals are better than anybody else's in the world. I think you've been to one to many Obama rallys
Yeah. It's a lot better now that I live in Japan, surprisingly. Although I can't breathe in cold weather. Riding my bike to work is death between November and February.
asthma sucks.. i've had it since a little kid but it went in remission in my teenage years. although when i got an upper respiratory tract infection last week i did have some wheezing which i got an inhaler for (but i didn't take it cuz corticosteroids make you fat and the wheezing wasn't that bad.) i'm just taking the anti-biotics to clear up the infection and my wheezing has gone away... but damn, it sucks living with asthma
Wisdom teeth sucks.. really. I'm terribly afraid of needles too, last time a doctor STOLE some of my blood (blood test) i almost fainted. I got out blue of the damn hospital.
I thought government health insurance is cheap in Japan...? Isn't it based off your previous years' income? Or is it different for you since you're an American citizen?
Well when I arrived here last year, I didn't have a previous year's income. Sure, it might be cheap, but I bet the yearly cost of Health Insurance is more than the one-time doctor's visit is going to cost--my first visit to anything medical related in the past 1.5 years.
So you're telling us your disfigured? hopefully not for life!!! You need to get some antibiotics for whatever is causing that inflammation.
BTW the shot they gave you in the hospital is called an adrenaline shot. My wife has asthma and they've given her that shot many times when she's in the ER.
Where are you guys moving to? we need details girl....DETAILS!!!! LOL
It's alright. I'm still scared to deasth of needles. It took me an hour each for both of my ears to get pierced and the nurses still have to hold me down for shots along with whoever is with me lmao xD.
I went to a hospital in Cuba once. Turns out I had tonsillitis. The hospital was basically a house. They were all asking me questions in Spanish, which sadly I did not understand, and I totally barfed all over the floor. Not pretty. You should probably go to the doc though, infections are no joke!
Try drinking mainly water and reducing other drinks, I've found that really did help my asthma. It took at least a month to start working though.

No, it's because we're sad to see you in pain and we empathize >_>;; Watching this made me wanna give you a big hug and try to cheer you up. Though uh... I'm a little late in posting... seems you've long since gotten better. Which is good to hear.

hospitals are scary scary places and they smell funny.

I am sure you will find one you like:)
harr7959 2 years ago 5
@harr7959

I had severe asthma when I was knee-high as a grasshopper, but now it's only triggered when I do intense physical activities.
AdamDubb 2 years ago
Yeah. It's a lot better now that I live in Japan, surprisingly. Although I can't breathe in cold weather. Riding my bike to work is death between November and February.
Ciaela 2 years ago
I'm the exact opposite. I have a hard time breathing in hot and humid weather. Living in Southern California, the summers can be a tad rough.
Throughout elementary and middle school, I was known as "The Kid That Goes Home In An Ambulance."

asthma sucks.. i've had it since a little kid but it went in remission in my teenage years. although when i got an upper respiratory tract infection last week i did have some wheezing which i got an inhaler for (but i didn't take it cuz corticosteroids make you fat and the wheezing wasn't that bad.) i'm just taking the anti-biotics to clear up the infection and my wheezing has gone away... but damn, it sucks living with asthma

Or is it different for you since you're an American citizen?
ghostdein1 2 years ago
Well when I arrived here last year, I didn't have a previous year's income. Sure, it might be cheap, but I bet the yearly cost of Health Insurance is more than the one-time doctor's visit is going to cost--my first visit to anything medical related in the past 1.5 years.
Ciaela 2 years ago

Yeah but I don't have health insurance so it's always a mystery walking in and not knowing how much I'll have to pay when I walk out.

I think it's best if you do actually go see a doctor just incase. You can't be too careful I guess.
Better safe than sorry.
