  • The Confederates had Robert E. Lee one of the best Generals that the U.S. had... but when the civil war happened he had family in the south so he didnt wanted to "betray them" so he joined the "revels" (Confederacy). They had a great advantage.

Yeah if you want proof just look at the map on election day when Barak became our president HA HA!

  • Where can i find this version of the song a life on the vicksburgbluff?

  • Folks... this war ended 145 years ago and there are still people arguing over it? God bless America!

  • To wage total war is to so demoralize and destroy the enemy that he loses his will to fight. To hammer your opponent until there is nothing and no one left or he surrenders.

There is really no way to avoid civilian casualties. But it doesn't mean you purposely go looking for innocent civilians to kill and maim. Unless you're Al Qaeda.

  • Do you have the first song available on an MP3 file?

  • How do they cordinate the mass charges and hand to hand combat?? We just do very little in WW2 rrenactments and even that has to be choreographed

  • yea I screw myself but how? noob

  • haha, you just called me a noob? And people say southerners are dumb?! hahaha!

  • yeah got a problem with that?

  • Obviously, cause so far you've come across as pretty stupid...

  • well ask yourself who started the war

  • I love "To Canaan". Or, rather, I love every song sung by Bobby Horton!

  • where do you get the song "to canaan" i really like it i want to have that song

  • hahaha, i like that, wht events u got this year, well left tht is, i may run into at one.

  • haha, at least ur in it with us, we need numbers on both sides.

  • Good reenacting footage

  • jeez...'to canaan' is about as blasphemous as the Battle Hymn of the Republic. The US government was ordained by God? I want the yankees to remember that the next time the IRS sticks them in the ass. Paying your taxes is a duty to God I guess.

  • The civil war was fought over the nation's original sin, slavery, or more gently the peculiar institution. You can hear the moral tone in the unions songs. Theyre gospels.

However, this result of this struggle created the federal state that eventually has morphed into the dominant world power. It is this domination that southerners fearer and objected to.

  • Deep Down South Baby? Yea And Black People Will Say That In Alabama And they Wont get Killed. After All that shit they went through. They Made A Difference In The War. That's exactly why The Union Recruited them. And We Kicked the South's Ass at the end.

  • RANDOM FACT: In the battle for Vicksburg, the confederates, who were at a disadvantage due to landscape, charged directly into fire at one point and for 200 yards (2 football fields) you coouldn't step on land, only dead and dying soldiers. just emagine......thats alot!

  • Moin Matze, sehr schönes Video (gleich mal als Favorit speicher ;o)).

Woher stammt die letzte Version von Dixie?

  • i am sorry i was distracted by the gohst of Ulisese S. Grant laughing and General lee's ghost as Lee is having a temper tantrum becuase he just got whipped.

  • The north won!

  • who cares about the north, deep down south baby!

  • i am sorry i cant read your reply, STONEWALL JACKSON IS CRYING LIKE A LITTLE GIRL and its destracting me

  • ok why wont you try saying that in alabama? you'll get killed you stupid yankee........ DIXIE LAND IS WHERE I STAND!

  • Hell, he'd get killed in the North for disrespecting such a man!

  • Not likely.

  • Wanna Bet?

  • no, it was not that song...it was "a life on a Vicksburg bluff".

  • I Remember one time, under the civil war, we sang the Battle Hymn of the Republic . it was...under J.E.B i think...but i'm a old man so i don't remember very well...hehe my regement was a fine couple of guys. we beatet those yanks! we had the choose between the gallow and the army. but you know how it is. you Never get what you want's!

  • what re-enactment is that?

  • To the person who made this video :

Please give credit to Bobby Horton the man who recorded and sings these wonderful old songs used on your video. He plays all the instruments as well.

  • Re-enacting is sooooo much fun ! It can be an expensive hobby, but the rewards are wonderful.

  • Amen man, 36th Virginia here, and yea 100 bucks for brogans, 600 for a rifle, and then hundreds for the rest of your gear, but getting a small taste of what they did and went through, is well pricelss

  • 8:49-8:53...OWNED!!

  • The north invaded the south murdering civilians, burning, looting, pillaging, they waged war on the very land itself. They were driven, not by a belief in God's will or Kingdom, but by a kind of anti-Christ hatred of anything good. Many of their generals were marxists from the failed revolution of 1848, and were cold-blooded murderers. The south should have chased em back to DC at Bull Run when they had the chance and hung lincoln the war criminal. Long Live the South - to Hell with the union!

  • the only reson we didnt chase them is that we were as disorganized in victory as they in defeat, and jackson begged for troops to take up to washington, however he was not yet the "stonewall" jackson that he soon became cmopletly known and trusted as, had the capitol been undefended at 2nd manassas, they would have given jackson the troops he asked for

  • and the south OF COURSE would have acted completly different if they had marched north.

God your have no idea how wars was fought back then

  • wait wait wait wait wait, are you saynig that i have no idea how wars were fought then?

  • @magicfrog0 The South DID march North, they invaded Kentucky despite its proclaimed neutrality early in the war, invaded Missouri, and invaded Maryland and Pennsylvania, they got routed every time they tried

  • @Lambchop08

You misunderstood. I simply meant that there were no good guys in that war. Everyone had their reasons.

  • @magicfrog0 War is not a"good" thing, no action in war is good because no matter what it is ruining lives and destroying homes. However I believe that the North's actions during the war were justified, and that they were very lenient to the conquered rebels, certainly more lenient than any other nation's victors during a civil war. If it had been up to me Nathan Bedford Forrest would have been hanged for war crimes for the massacre at Fort Pillow.

  • I doubt it moron. Ever heard of Quantrill and Lawernce , KS,???

  • @Patriot1862 thats funny because the south tried to invade the north and failed.

  • I'm french but i'm very interested in american History, i hope one day i'll see a reenactment like this in real !

  • I hope so, too. Go to Gettysburg 150 in five years.

  • 5/5

  • Hurrah for the Union!

    Fallaballaugh!

  • Down with the union!

  • Shame you shot him

  • amen, yanks suck

  • The south has not so menny states as the north not so menny soldiers the most of the south army was cowboys xD but they should be really good to shoot:D reminds me about "Shanghai Noon"

  • lol the south on the early parts beat the union! Cuz they really had great Generals.

  • fuck the goddamned Yanks! South FTW!!!! Stonewall Jackson = my hero!!

  • umm i saw a chinees boy in the beginin. damed yanks

  • stupid fuckin yanks

  • kool

  • dementedmonkeyfish: Actualy they teach some history about other coutries too. Just not as much as their own.

  • sorry about the typos.

(the south wouldnt have ruled anything the confederacy left the union and was invaded had the war for southern independence be won by the south there would be two countries

  • is it true america schools only teach american history ? if so thts sh*t

  • noo thats not true. in different grades we learn about different nations. for example, wen i wqas in eight grade i learned about american history. than in 9th grade i learned about mesopotamia all the way up to the timurids.

  • A quarter of the Union troops were german immigrants who came after the failed revolution of 1848. And we trained your troops in the independent war too.Without us the south would rule now ! But it seems like americans forget really quick.

  • I am not clear to what you are talking about, when you say "independent war" I am guessing you are talking about the Revolutionary War. And technically those germans were Americans too, but I don't see what you say when Americans forget really quick. It would be a stretch to say it was only because germans the union won don't forget the irish, dutch and American born men who fought.

  • the south wou8lndt rule theyed be a country the south didnt try to take the country they left and were invaded

  • You didn't mention the German mercenaries the Brits hired in the revolution, who got their asses handed to them.

  • how can i join this?

  • Are you looking to start reenacting...

If so I might be able to help...

  • I recognize some of the videos from "Sid Meyers: Gettysburg." GOOD VIDEO!!!

  • i would love to be in a re-enactment like that, ours only have 3000 members

  • Nice music, in some parts its extremely Farbish. Too renegade and messed up in some places. (Yes I have done ACW reenacting..whats with all the damn tents too!) was that campaign? Farbs.

  • I think that these are clips from Gettysburg

  • I like Gettysburg, I mean I like the actual place. It's beautifel. Only downer is the heat in July..yeah the American heat is too much for my pale English senses lol

  • Yeah I would agree except its not entirely practical to expect 10000+ reenactors to sleep beneath the stars, cept thats what i plan to do at Gettysburg 2008!

  • Wow I just saw a guy wearing gaitors ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ah ha ah hee hee ahhh ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha hee hee haaaaaa A little farbish but thouroughly entertaining!

  • I wish I could go but doubt i'll be able to get the time off work. Gaitors!?! Only time i've ever ever seen gaitors was at a reenactment at the American History Museum in Bath UK. The Fed's even wore white crossbelts haha

  • Thanks for posting this, it really makes you go back to the days of the civil war :-)

  • Who song ?

  • they are by bobby horton the Homespun Songs of the CSA and Homespun Songs of the USA. can be gotten from his website or at most reenactments

  • Your'e also a fan of the Gaunt's Ghost ?

  • of course 'For Tanith. For The Emperor'

  • A amazing gathering for reinactment... That was huge...

  • oh right sounds pretty nasty! :S

  • wtf is peebread?!

  • A bread eaten by confederates during the seige of vicksburg.

    spelled peabread

(as in the small green round things)

  • it doesn't taste too bad..... goes well with a good cup of northern coffee and maybe some jam.

  • i recognize most of these video clips from Gettysburg the game by Sid. is this where you got the clips from? my cd broke a few years ago, today i continue to look for a new one :(

  • Please. Does anyone know, where download song Army of the Free mp3?

  • Good Job pard

  • Great Vid tho

  • all of it was taken from sid meire's Gettysburg!

  • You saved the best for last--Dixie forever!

  • All the clips are from "Sid Meire's: Civil War Collection". Mostly Gettysburg.

  • Yes it was an actual sung during the war. A very famous song of the Union and it was called ,,Union Dixie''.

  • One of the best Gettysburg videos I've ever seen. Does anybody know if that first satire of Dixie was an actual spoof sung during the Civil War?

  • Good

  • Good job !
