@heartlessvietboy Cummins, they make Diesel engines. Most modern cars don't start making enough torque to move the vehicle until around 2500rpms. So basically almost all engines out there are torqueless. They rely on RPMs to make power, which is inefficient both in fuel usage and for off-road.
Tires help, but it doesn't matter if you have the best tires in world if the torque isn't there. When you can just let off the clutch and pull the truck out from the idle, that is what you want.
I do not know. I assume any engine that can move a car can provide torque. But I guess revolutions per minute requires 2,500 of them to make a certain lb. of torque. I may be wrong, i'm not an expert at this subject. Even then people are not listening to my breaking down. And Cummins Diesel is ok to use although in relation to off-roading I don't think you need to use diesel.

Diesel is used in military applications for a reason, it's fuel efficient and provides torque where it's needed to provide traction. Gasoline engine are not comparable, and often so weak that you have to rev them up to get any power to move even a 2000lb car.

Yeah, Diesels are all over the place. It's the fuel, and the durability of the Diesel that makes it better. The fuel contains more energy per volume than gasoline, and the engines are built much stronger compared to gasoline engines.

The entire system is the drive train. From Engine back if in a rear wheel drive vehicle. What it mean's by lock up is the torque converter is fully engaged and transferring power directly to the wheels.

@heartlessvietboy 2500 rpm is a good measure, as most torque converters really start engaging fully around this point. Before then, most average engines are not producing enough torque to lock up the drive train fully.
Diesel is used in military applications for a reason, it's fuel efficient and provides torque where it's needed to provide traction. Gasoline engine are not comparable, and often so weak that you have to rev them up to get any power to move even a 2000lb car.

@heartlessvietboy Torque Converters are what transfers the poswer from the Crankshaft of the engine to an automatic transmission. Locking up means the drive train is at the point where power is actually being put to the ground.
Yeah, Diesels are all over the place. It's the fuel, and the durability of the Diesel that makes it better. The fuel contains more energy per volume than gasoline, and the engines are built much stronger compared to gasoline engines.

@heartlessvietboy It work's on pressure from spinning vanes, in most of them. The vanes spin up to a certain RPM at which point there's a clutch pack that engages and lock's up from the pressure created by these vanes.
The entire system is the drive train. From Engine back if in a rear wheel drive vehicle. What it mean's by lock up is the torque converter is fully engaged and transferring power directly to the wheels.

That really is a stupid argument. I could take a foxbody Mustang and put it in the 7s for 50K, but it would still be worth very little just like a Supra with all of the mods it would take to get 1,000 hp reliably. I could do the same with an 87 Grand National. The point is it is more modern, more reliable and has a warranty. The newer cars are so much better in every way plus that 5.4L has already handled 1,200 hp on the Bone Stock ENGINE not shortblock, ENGINE.

The camaro was winning in performance with a much larger 6.2l to the gt's 4.6, until ford came out with the 2011 5.0. Due to the mustangs lighter body and smaller more advanced engine the mustang now beats the camaro in all categories, acceleration, MPG etc. The gt500 was made for the richer people who want more of a collectible, not the everyday person.

There is none since they camaro never had a car to compete with the gt500 untill this year. Again the new 2013 gt500 capable of 200 mph with 650 hp will most likely be on top.

GM's idiot CEO claimed GM payed back their loan with interest which was a HUGE lie. They payed back a measely 5 or 6 billion with MORE TARP (bailout money)!
Carklub, Ford has been manufacturing vehicles more reliable than Toyota and Honda, and GM isn't even close. And they're profitable, unlike GM. Stop listening to your neighbor and educate yourself.

Hey 19, did taxpayers lose their @sses to Ford? Nope. GM took 60 BILLION. It wasn't only the largest bankruptcy in US history, but the largest fleecing of US taxpayer dollars in US history. Ford started downsizing about 10 years ago, closing plants like Edison, NJ for example and moving to "work free" states like Toyota so the UAW could kiss Ford's @ss. Private investment isn't socialism like GM, or Obama Motors is.

@2101silverstein The only people into unreliable and high priced European cars are people that need to compensate for their short comings. European cars are garbage!!!! Lambos like to self ignite, Jags/Land Rover/Aston Martin have the worst electric problems, Alfa Romeo lack build quality in a serious way and BMWs are over engineered.
