    matt

  • hey, Carl

what kind of woods do you have laying around.

Do you have any buck eye burl blanks big enough for a bowl?

or any other burl wood i could maybe purchase from you?

    Thanks,

    Matt

  • Hi Matt,

I don't have buck eye. Where are you located? It would probably be a lot cheaper to find it locally with shipping costs. Do you have a local wood working store in your area? Let me know.

  • Hello, Carl,

When you were making the top to the bird house. After you hollowed it out, and brought up the tailstock, was it just fitting inside the top as a steady?

    Thanks,

    Susan

  • Hi Susan,

Yes just for a little support.

  • @haydenHD

    Hello, Carl,

Thanks so much for the reply! I know its hard to remember everything when doing the videos.

  • Very good job. I was the fellow that asked that you make a Mini Bird House- Ted Koski. It is hard to get information on making them. I was at a wood show years ago and saw man making them in person. I was very impressed by his ability to make these bird houses very small and detailed. The man's name was Mr Dick Sing. He has some books. You may want to ck out his work to get some good ideas. It would be a great Idea to have more videos on minatures like bird house and ornaments. Again Good Job

  • Hi Ted,

I think the next one i try will be smaller.

I will see if I can find Dick's work online

    Thanks for the idea

    Carl

  • Carl

I think you have a very good talent both in turning and giving instructions. i saw Dick Sing in person once. He is know for making miniatures on a full size lathe. I know you can buy his book. It is on line and the cover has some pictures of miniature bird house. I have made them myself and they can get every decorative and creative. He uses a small spindle gouge honed with a fine point and he uses and made a small 90 degree scaper from a lien wrench.

  • Hi Ted,

I found Dick's book thanks. I made another bird house to day I will have it on line in a few days

    Carl

  • @haydenHD I was looking them up and I found them at Amazon. As a matter of fact and after writing to you, I bought both his books yesterday!! One Book is about miniature bird houses and the other is on miniature ornaments and eggs. Dick Sing is someone to learn from. You can do so much from Miniture bird houses and Ornaments. Plus, they are easy and are a good seller item. Good Luck!!! Cant wait for your video
