I would also just like to point out that it is not your opinion that matters, but those who live inside Hacienda Luisita. So before you make assumptions about payment, a) prove it and b) step away from the comfort of your computer screen and go to Hacienda Luisita yourself. The purpose here is not to discount the anti-Aquino side of the story but to give value to the OTHER side of the story, because it's just as valid. Ang mga tao dito ang damay sa isyu na ito, hindi po kayo.

Just got to read some of your comments. On the "bayad" issue -- as I have said on my blog and twitter before: I have no reason to pay, no incentive to pay, no money to pay. You can keep thinking what you want, but the point of this exercise is air the OTHER side of the story. Which you believe is your prerogative. But demeaning those people's words to "bayad" is an insult to them, and betrays your close-mindedness. What you hear here actually complicates things for Aquino.

Salamat sa pagpost! Naniniwala ako dito kasi ganito din ang naging kalagayan sa bayan namin sa Nueva Ecija, yung lupang na land reform at naibahagi sa mga magsasaka, halos lahat at ay nasangla na o naibenta. Unang una kasi kelangan pag nagtanim ng palay ay merong kapital, pangalawa, walang sapat na patubig. Gumagastos kami sa diesel ng halos 3k isang linggo para magbomba ng tubig sa palayan. Nung huling patanim namin, umabot ng lampas 100k yung ginastos bago nagani.

Saan kukuha ng panggastos ang isang magsasaka upang magtanim kapag naibahagi sa kanya ang lupa? Paano kung minalas dahil sa panahon tulad ng nangyari ngayon (El Nino)? Maraming lupa sa amin ang nakatiwangwang dahil dito. Walang panggastos ang magsasaka at wala ding sapat na patubig. Kaya bago ipamahagi ang lupa sa magsasaka, dapat siguraduhin munang sapat din ang suporta ng gobyerno sa lugar na yon tulad ng libreng patubig.

Bakit masagana ang mga magsasaka sa ibang bansa tulad ng US? Bakit sila ay gumagamit ng mga malalaking harvesters at iba pang makina na nagpapadali, nagpapabilis at nagpapamura sa pagsasaka at sa atin panay kalabaw pa rin? Isang dahilan ay ang mga magsasaka doon ay nagsasaka ng napakalaking lupain. @roberlene @roberlene galit ang mga magsasaka sa sweldo. sino hindi magagalit magtrabaho buong araw sa init tapos 9pesos a day lang ang sweldo? that's 300pesos a month kung walang pahingahan. land reform was really a failed project naman. kami our family used to own 150 hectares of land in Nueva Ecija for rice crops. Pero nabigay na most of it court order. lahat naging subdivion na. wla ng palayan. dapat sa hacienda taasan lang nila sweldo ng magsasaka wla na magrarally jan. vote gordon!

@kateramirez Didn't you pay attention to the clip? The farmers were very happy with their lives there, their benefits, their work there UNTIL the strike happened. They just wanted more work and higher wages which is why they were in discussion with the HL mgmt. Until napasukan sila nila Satur Ocampo. After the strike, things went downhill.
