Hey, I heard it will play like Strife or Hexen, in the same HUB style, where you don't need to just go direct through the stages, you can explore around on an open environment, is it true? If it is, it's simple great!

@r3ini Yes, it will, but the HUBS will be more advanced and you will have multiple optional quests between then if you choose. More like Quake 2's hub system with Strife's centralized map system. There's even parts of a HUB that will take you original levels and all sorts of stuff. Lots of fun and backtracking, etc. ;)

@ravick007 There will be a map editor and game creator tool. You will be able to mod or use the engine to create your own game. We will be packaging the tools together and releasing them along with the source for all platforms - even the 32X.

Actually for the DC I think some more multiplayer games would be good.

Multiplayer is also more fun than single player.

I don't see your problem. In 2001 I bought return to castle wolfenstein, I though the single player was excellent. A few months later (and still a dialup user as broadband wasn't available) I decided to try and play its multiplayer online. It kicked ass and I'm still playing it today on my 8MB broadband connection.

So, you can post here - you can play multiplayer so stop whinin

thanks for your reply. I think releasing it through redspot would really help to increase the popularity as they are very good at marketing and advertising. Im not sure of how much money they take but look at what they have done for Rush Rush Rally Racing and Wind and Water.

Anyways this is awesome. I was actually thinking of trying to pull a team together to make a FPS for DC as im an experience 3D modeller, but after seeing this I think ill just wait instead!

We're planning on rolling out a new video soon. We're not moving to Zdoom - Zblood is a great way to experience Blood on Zdoom. EDGE is our engine of choice, and we've modified it accordingly. I promise that once you experience this, you will be wowed.

Now when it comes to the game itself. It's great you're trying to revieve the game. But please! Keep in mind that it was the primivness of Blood 1 that we love so much. Try not to waste it with new hi tech gfx etc. And get rid of the Blood2 weapons/characters/sounds! It is the original Blood 1 we love!

But gr8 job anyway.

Our site is being built, but it's taking longer than we thought. We're going for a content-rich, user-driven site.

Our goal is to update and change Blood around to make it original but familiar. We have a wiki link on our blog site that gives plenty of information. If you're looking for the original Blood 1 in a playable form, Zblood is your answer. Instead of mirroring it, we're making our own unique experience.

Haha...yeah. At the time of production, the game was running on top of DOOM, which is where that Wolfenstein SS comes from. ;)

So, this engine is using 2d sprites for weapons/hands? I thought they looked cartoonish.

Why not use an engine like quake III?

EDGE has bits of Quake 2 code. Not all the weapons are 2d sprites - look closer, and you'll see that the pitchfork and the sawed off are MD2 models. Our biggest thing is meshing the 2d artwork and 3d environment together to look as convincing as possible.

Well this version was around 15%, if I had to guess... We ended up scrapping a lot when we [recently] redesigned anyway. The game runs @ a good 60fps btw...let's blame fraps for the bad quality of this. =D

It's not a weapon - slot 0 is your inventory. You can use these items, sometimes at the expense of using any weapons until whatever you have is drained.
