My first ever England game on April 16th, 1975. I was 10. I'll never forget the occassion, but I can only really remember one of the goals. I also remember a bunch of blokes from Sunderland (I think) pulling me up to sit on the very back wall of the upper tier. One of them gave me his programme which I've still got. It's a magical, football memory for me. Macdonald was the most underated player of all time, in my oppinion. He once ran 100 mtrs in 10 seconds. on grass & in football boots
A very fast paced striker, he played for a couple of years at the Arsenal but got injured at about 28 and never really recovered. Shame really as he scored around 60 odd goals in two seasons for Arsenal but missed the 1979 FACup win and 1980 FACup and Euro campaigns. I do remember he one a BBC television Superstars event and was unbeaten in the 100 metres.
I went to that game Super Mac was outstanding yeah it was only Cyprus but even the best keeper in the world would'nt have stopped his 4th goal bloody great player nuff said
