  • why the f doesn't this have a million views?

  • There was always a weird, beautiful, droning guitar based on his early albums. Blackhole, Ramshackle, Nobodies fault ect..

  • I wish he'd do more dark and melodic numbers like this. Sea Change is his best album, IMHO, which was the last time he pursued that direction.

  • amazing!

  • Anyone know this guitar tuning?

  • @hounddig C G C F A C

  • @unitedwellfall thanks!

  • @unitedwellfall You've gotta love that Double Drop C action there.

  • the chords are very neil youngish

  • @nickgunman same tuning as Don't Let It Bring You Down

  • Beck is so diverse as a recording artist and seems like he'd be a completely fascinating person. I've always loved the melancholic qualities of this song. Check out the version of this with him playing the harmonium. It'll make you cry it's so beautiful.

  • I like Odelay Guero and Midnite Vultures, but Mellow Golds always great to listen to, and Mutations

  • I like Mellow Gold the best.. Pay No Mind, whiskey clone hotel etc. are just great songs!

  • @kowtpr187 Stereo Pathetic sould manure is a great CD too

  • i like dead melodies a bit better than this, but this is still an amazing song

  • I love all of his albums.

    His originality is so inspiring.

  • I had to watch this video to figure out what tuning he was in on his guitar, its like C modal tuning, but I jam it on my guitar all the time now! He reminds me of Neil Young

  • good comparison.

  • @niteclydn Me too. It's everything down a whole step and then drop both E's to 'C' and play as if in 'D' isn't it?

  • awesome!!! i adore him

it's my favourite song from mutations

    he's a genuine talent

  • ce song!!

  • Best song from Mutations.

  • Toss up between this and We Live Again for me.

  • I'd say O Maria was better.

But this is in close second.

  • wtf? he isn´t dead now, is he? i mean -- what you mean by that?

  • He better not be- I just saw him last weekend at the Hollywood Bowl! Amazing....

The recorded version of this is my favorite Beck song, but there are several live clips here of him doing it that beat that! Such a gorgeous song, from my favorite album of his. He didn't do it last Saturday, though.... :(

  • would love to see him live once, too, you lucky you.

    be well, Bhaktigirl.

    :)

  • I hope you get to see him, Charlottedescordian- and soon! :)

  • That's for all of us who know better and continue on like everything's alright. "Wasted blues."

  • truth hurts...

  • My favorite Beck song. I love the tone of his voice when says "chain gang" in this version.

  • yeah he always sings it a little different live, love it!

  • Great Song, best off Mutations, cold brains is good too

  • Absolutely amazing. It's far better live than on Mutations.

  • One of Becks finest....a diamond in the rough off Mutations. Excellent live as well.

  • i wouldn`t say mutations is rough, but this is a diamond.

  • Whether done on acoustic guitar or on the harmonium, this is a beautiful tune. I think it sounds better live than on CD.

  • Agreed, CD is lack luster. It sounds like a rushed, more up-beat radio edit.

  • Thank you SOOO much for posting this video. LOVE it!

  • I love this song, lots of feeling and down to earth
