Here's the deal with your view: 1) The WMG will NEVER be able to counteract piracy. Only way is to regulate the Internet (which would be VERY controversial). 2) The WMG (and any music group in particular) acting on "the best interest of their artists" is a load of bull. The music industry takes an ENORMOUS chunk of the profits. Musicians are often times left with little money, especially in the case of bands. The only way a musician makes good money is if they are super-famous.

But companies like the WMG pay for them to be professionally recorded at a studio, and other companies pay for YouTube to keep running (via ads which you block the ips of) and we get it for FREE! 2.) I personally have been introduced to lots of music on YT I otherwise would never have heard of and purchased their music on Itunes for use in my car etc.
3.) Lesser known artists welcome You Tube to get free exposure they otherwise would not get.
