I happen to know Laura having done a one-off live sound gig for the Hidden Cameras and from taping Sheezer, Woodhands and her solo shows. I can totally relate to her considering herself a "fangirl" despite developing a solid reputation as a performer and songwriter. I've mixed many a rock show and I still consider myself a music fan first and foremost and if I didn't love music, I wouldn't do what I do because being a sound guy can be a thankless job sometimes...but I love it.

Kalimba. Is that how you spell it? How compelling, the way Laura re-invents the sound of such a small instrument. Rather mystic sounding, I think. I love that she has a bit of a crush on Martin Tielli, and winds up collaborating with him here. Reminds me of Edie Brickell and her Paul Simon story :-). How amazing would it be to meet them both in a setting like the AGO? Thanks for posting! x.
