@shssh09 Thanks for your note. Please feel free to use the film as you like while keeping in mind fair use rules. The applicable rule of fair use in this case is that the film is for academic purposes, therefore you are ok. YouTube does an amazing job of filtering copy written materials. When I first published this 2yrs ago, they alerted me that the film might violate some properties but that since it is for academic use they would monitor the film. See creative commons for more on fair use.
I would like to use a portion of your video, particularly the intro and the rationale for your work. However, I am concerned with copyright on the Simpson's piece. May I use the beginning portion?
Wow I found this very interesting and so well scaffolded. Will it be ok if I embed this into a blog we are creating at the moment on the views of this technology in the classroom? of course full reference of your vidoe will be used.
Great job! Thanks for sharing it with all of us. It must've taken a huge amount of time to research and pull it all together. It makes for a perfect intro to a workshop on cell phones. Can I use it? I'll embed it in my wiki and give you attribution.
@brankam KUDOS to you as well my friend for understanding the brevity of this concept. Please embed, link and share... I would love to know how you use it for workshops and the reaction it generates.
@OnOttButton Thanks for the permission. Alas, the embedding feature is disabled. I can always link to your YouTube page. I'll let you know about the reactions. :-)
For anyone looking to use my film for professional presentations... please consider fair use and creative commons. All I ask is that you follow the model that other like @brankam has provided (above) and let me know by email how you intend to use the film, the audience, platform, and reactions. I hope this helps. Thanks.
@TheFrostymountains SAT scores show us literacy, vocab, and math ability. Considering the US focus' on providing a free public education to all types of learners and socio-economic backgrounds. Education reform needs to focus on individual needs instead of trying to applying these one fix solutions to a variety of problems. Mobile technology helps with communication, problem solving, and critical thinking all of which better prepares our students for real world scenarios.
@OnOttButton real world as in SLAVES ! cellphones track wherever you go, who you talked to, what you talked about, and when you talked about it . that is the "real world" scenario ! these kids aren't learning shit . let's face it ! duh ... keep 'em dumb . that way they are easy to control .
I used this video as a promotional tool for a video I created, i'm not using it for monetary use. If I have your permission to use it please email me at: interactive_ed_solutions@yahoo .com
@hustlerne11 iMovie... original film work, research, and mix media. A Masters Thesis for Full Sail University. Hope you enjoyed and learned something.
@Triumphguy1 The video tells it all. We must be open to creative approaches to meet learners at their level of engagement. Our students spend countless hours online, texting, and playing video games. We need to harness these tools to bring engagement to the 21st Century classroom. Step into my classroom for a day and you'll see how hard it is to reach today's youth. With cell phones I can direct them to a more guided use of technology for positive results and an empowered future.
@Triumphguy1 They are already there. The question is not, "should they be allowed?" The question should be, "how do we harness cellphones for constructive use and engagement?"
@stoneybrook99 Thanks... where are you using cell phones as instructional tools? Keep up the progressive thinking and use the tools we have to teach the now generation of students.... How can you help to spread this video?
Well done. I am surprised that this one has not been viewed more. We are in the process of integrating mobile technologies into our classroom. This video will help us explain our purpose. Thanks again for a job well done!
Wow! As an educator I was highly impressed with this video. Administrators and teachers need to be open to the possibilities that this form of technology can provide. Excellent video.
Amazing video. Love the use of different media types (Simpsons, newscasts as well as your own video). Very well produced video! Thoroughly enjoyed it!
