  • i like this song! and new order too

  • this was the penultimate song they ever played (Buenos Aires November 2006). Brought tears to my eyes, the intensity, they went all out, you could almost sense Curtis and Gretton's presence offstage

  • To justify my last comment, I think the lead guitar was the real hero on Shadow Play.

  • I think I prefer it to the JD version.

...stands back and waits for the torrent of abuse from Ian Curtiss fans.

  • Cuarta canción no Cuarenta...

  • Sounds pretty darn good.

  • sublime!!!!!!

  • I find it incredible that this song is only Bass, drums, electric guitar, and voice. It sounds so amazing.

  • It's not the same.....

  • GREAT SONG GREAT BANDS!

  • I think Barney does it okay singing JD stuff.

  • The original was all about tone and Barney's style of course. This is still good, very faithful indeed, well it's them. But it doesn't quite get the tone over, it's there mind you - must be a generational thing, transmission loss(titter). Pity they stopped!

  • Greate Song! Greate Band :)

  • No one compares to ian curtis

  • @ThoseDamnKids1 he was the singer the songs are bernie`s

  • @ThoseDamnKids1 pfft I agree :D

  • Barney didn't get lazy he needed to work on his vocals that's why he didn't play as good as when in Joy Divison

  • EPIKLY HEAVY

  • Well suet well after Ian Curtis was gone they actually did a good job keeping some classics intact

  • I really like Barney's voice on this one. Shadowplay and Warsaw really worked well for him, more than the other JD songs NO played, I think.

  • Great song, but not quite the same as the 1978 version.

  • moaning about playing the same set? reading 98 until last year, they've pretty much played the same set - brixton, finsbury park, newcastle and how many more?....your back catalogue and the money for tickets, pull ya fingers out...

  • working with mr curtis brought out the best in barney and his guitar...he got lazy after ian died

  • God rest your soul (Ian Curtis) You are a ROCK LEGEND!!!!!!!!

  • ;) Joy Division!

  • Barney is one hell of underated giutarist. Great performance.

  • hOW IN HEAVEN DO YOU FIGURE? Even Barney doesn't believe that. :-) I love him/them to death but c'mon....

  • What r u a deaf sod? When was the last time u listened to JD? If u listen carefully u might notice that Barney is one hell of a guitarist.

  • I agree with you, Barney is amazing. The person who took issue with your statement is probably a guitarist, and probably someone who overrates virtuosity. If by virtuosity one means a technically superb guitar player than I would agree Barney is not a virtuoso. However by that definition Steve Vai is probably a virtuouso but has he composed even one song that can even approximate Shadowplay, Transmission, Crystal, etc. etc.? Anybody being objective and honest has to say, resoundingly, NO.

  • In my mind Johnny Marr is one of the greates, but when i got into JD i realized how great & unique Barney is. Even the great Johnny Marr said when he first listened to JD he never heard anyone play guitar like BS.

  • yeah joy division rocks

  • i like joy division aswell but fuck off

  • Fucking amazing.
