@kakashi1578 Well, If I wanted something bigger, I would have liked a 302 or even 351 but I want to keep this mostly original. Pretty much everybody has a 289.
@jjhendo Ya, i would like a 302 as well. Too bad it was never an option for the mustang. And besides, there's good reason for everybody to have a 289! XD
@MrPressThat The dents (which were pretty minor) were filled with body filler. The rust was ground off and then I gave it a skim of body filler. Some panels were too rusty, so they were cut off and replaced. You can see what it looks like in part 2 and 3.
@MrPressThat I know and I'm sorry. Its because I couldn't find a job back home (Minnesota) and was kind of forced to move out here to North Dakota where I could find one. I am just renting a bedroom right now, and don't really have the space or money yet to where I could work on the car and it remains in the same shape as in the 4th video. Trust me, I wish I could do more Mustang videos. I will definitely have more eventually though...
Your car is in great condition compared to mine - flat pepsi cans glued to the floors to hide the license plate sized rust holes, hit in three places, rusty rear valance area, rusty passenger quarter panel. It looks like a 66 with that grille :P I like it!
another thing...sorry i've watched the film over and over...cause the car is gorgeous (and looks taut-which is a plus)...need to buy the front bumper guards....easy to overlook
Keeping the 200 rather than upgrading would probably be more unique, so I will. As far as paint, this was the original color, but I am most likely going to paint it something else (not totally sure what yet.) I just wanted to do something else with the exhaust because the previous owner changed it from stock already and I wanted to change it to get a better tone someday. I also already bought the rear valance with the dual exhaust cut out. I have the honeycomb grille and front bumper guards too.
one more thing i noticed...your's is a 65 alright, except for the grille...that's a 66...the 65 has the honeycomb one...the wheel covers are correct though...so, if you can, instead of buying something expensive and not original like the dual exhaust...i'd go for the grille
why don't you keep it bone stock? 195/75 14 tires with white stripe, keep the (in the near future the most desirable) 200 engine...with the single exhaust...the greatness of the mustang design ( and i agree with you that the best is the coupe) begs for the utmost simplicity...so i'd paint it wimbledon white...i mean...just like mine: i have a 66 coupe wimbledon white as a daily driver here in europe...
Well, I have been working on it about a month now, and it turns out the driver quarter pannel has already been replaced and I'm replacing it again. Also, It had been read-ended and half-assed fixed, so Im bending back the frame a bit and replacing the trunk floor, taillight pannel and a few other things.
The straight six is a good and reliable engine, but its too boring for me XD Gonna try and get a 289 instead.

This guy sure does want alot. I am pretty confident that he never gets around to restoring that car properly, unless hell freezes over.

You should keep the 200. Get the offenhauser tri-power intake kit for the log intake and it''ll get those outer cylinders fuel.

I am restoring a 66 200 myself, but i was wondering if that was the stock exhaust on that?
The66StangMan 2 years ago
No, I'm pretty sure the previous owner added the glass pack. I am planning on replacing it with dual exhaust though.

is it all original?

Its original for the most part, other than some vinyl interior and the fixes after it was in an accident.
