If I remember right, when they commissioned someone to design the clown doll, they asked her to make sure that its teeth were visible when it smiled. She had a problem with that at first as she'd never included the teeth in any of her previous dolls. Two heads were designed for the scene - this one and the evil one.

Little known facts about Poltergeist Director Steven Spielberg had a clown doll that spooked him as a kid which is what inspired the clown doll scene in the movie.During the filming, Steven Spielberg thought the kid was being a natual ham & told him to keep it up as the doll was strangling him until the kid's face started to turn blue & Steven yanks the doll off the kid.They said it was caused by mechinal problems, but some felt the set was cursed by evil spirits.

That doll is enough to give a child nightmares. I remember how that scene freaked me out as a child. Especially how the doll grabs the child and drags him into the darkness before he starts tearing at it.

Actually they borught in a whole bunch of clown dolls but apparently they didn't scare the actor who was playing Robbie and then someone found this clown doll somewhere and broght it in and when he saw the doll he was so scared that he ran out of the room. That was when they knew they had found their clown doll.

I swear to god that doll and that movie made me TERRIFIED of my "My Pet Monster" doll for years.

Honestly, the only horror movies that have ever truly and honestly scared me were Poltergiest and Event Horizon (which must be seen in theatres to be fully appreciated).

There are some slight differences between your doll and the one used in the movie, in terms of proportion. Never the less, I think your version looks freakier. It looks like it could serve as a transitional doll, bridging the gap between its normal and possesed appearance. Have you ever thought of making more and selling them?

Geeze, I'm just terrified of Clowns and yes it is because of the movie poltergeist I think thats the reason why one of my brothers are terrified of clowns as well is because of poltergeist, I'll never own a clown doll if I did I'd keep it locked up in my closet lol clowns are just horrifying...
