I thought that the "Haunts" were more terrifying. They were the undead Hammerites, that had the rattling chains, and the demonic creepy sounds. Hard to explain. I think I remember them being in the basement of the old cathedral. Anyhow, I can't wait for Thief IV!!!!

Heard about it when I was 10 but never got it because just listening about it didn't interest me, until I played the demo of course.

I swear if they made theif 4...with even better AI and gadgets it'll make the greatest stealth game of all time, hell it already is.

They were in the Abysmal Gale ship at the Docks and the Catacombs underneath Fort Ironwood in old Quarter.

Yeah... but the Zombies are more sad than horrific. The ship itself is more intense... with all that greenish environment. The captain was specially tormenting. When I had to go to his manor, I was so ashamed by his wife's madness. I even brought her the wine she was asking for... and killed the bastards who wanted to steal from her!! xDDD. D.R.

@Hasfast Totally what I did. I felt so sorry for the poor woman, I wish there was a special bonus if you actually brought the wine though or at least that something happened, but she just kept going :(

@Selestrielle In the mission, yes. But if you play in Normal and don't steal her inheritance, she sends a servant who leaves a bottle of wine and a thank you note round your apartment the next day. If you do steal her inheritance (which you have to do on Expert to finish the level), you find out that she intends to send someone to kill you.

Yeah, it took me nearly a month to get through that level. I could only play for so long and then I got too freaked out. Worst level of the lot. When I played it again the second time round, I came prepped, though. Stocked up on a ton of flash bombs and other heavy artillery.

omg last time i played this,i just go out into the city and i got a chase fomr a few guards and i was running down a maze of alley ways until i came across a big box cage room thing,i looked inside and i saw someone,but it was dark, and the harder i looked the more freaky the guy looked,until i realised what i thought was its head was its elbow or something, it was huge,i ran then turned off the game lol

Damn right, it's like I have developed a phobia of the undead, but thief 3 zombies have to be the scariest in my opinion.

And about the nightmares, I have them too :)

So far I have only had 2 nightmares of them, hopefully not many more.

the hammer haunts can be killed just like any person, albeit being scarier than the average zombie and doing more damage than a hammerite(?), but puppets cant die and by bloody hell they even spring back to life right next to you!!! It isnt even a slow recovery, they just jump up as if they are on a goddamn trampolene!!!

personaly i love the hammer haunts. i'v had a thing for them ever sinds i saw them in Thief1 and was happy to see them again in Thief3. just to bad they dont talk as much as they did in the previos thief games but the shrieks they make when they spot you make up for that.
