Thanks for the comment. i live in Australia, where that's how we spell it. i think we kind of inherited that from the British who settled here. But spelling changes. Maybe in the future we aussies will spell it "tire".
Its not pointless if your point is to get the tire off the rim. I do it all the time for all the old tires on wheels thet seem to accumulate around the shop.
