yeah its one of the many games that appear very easy but very hard. take my experience of trying to get a 100 in every level in the last game. it took me 492 yoshis to get that lol. they told me how many yoshis lost in the game

you see, for everyone that asked why yoshi isnt an old dinosaur, its because these yoshis (the ones u play with in yoshis island ds) are the "parents" of the actual yoshi. at the end of the game, a yoshi is born . That yoshi is mario's current friend. Hope i helped.

I really think Nintendo is trying to revive a kick-ass series... But I hated Yoshi's Island DS. The baby concept was definitely interesting, but too much of a juggle. I didn't like how they kind of cleaned up the chalk outlines, and I hated how they replaced most of the sounds with Yoshi's grunts. x_X

My main issue with YIDS is how long the levels are ... that, combined with the lack of an inventory, means that getting 100% scores in each levels becomes a frustrating chore rather than a fun puzzle/search like in the original (which is still one of the best platformers to this day).
