At the age of seventeen, through some magical hocus-pocus, the inhabitants of Simulacrum choose their permanent gender, male or female. So, in this world, or in this particular society (there are others who choose their sex through surgery) it's perfectly natural for "chicks" to be attracted to other "chicks" since teenagers don't have many other choices.

I never thought I'd love this anime so much <3 Truly an amazing show.

Funny since I first saw it in an AMV, thought it looked interesting for a yuri anime [never really interested in it], saw it at Best Buy and bought it on a whim because I recognized it, and I'm glad I did. I gotta rewatch the whole thing soon xD

I watched the show, very interesting but a little confusing. They kiss each other because its a ritual for the Simoun (hint the name of this) ito work and trust its pilots.

I've seen the first part of episode one and I think that they kiss, because it has something to do with their airships. That's why they both kiss the green ball in the airship as well. I think it's a start-up procedure.
