Impressive! Also, perfect gym! Cold , raw and rusty! No sarcasm, really, way too many fancy pants fitness studios around, they don't motivate me as much as this video did in 41"!
@steflotti105 Hi man, Thats the point I was trying to make.So many people were giving out about his form but with that weight the theres bound to be a bit of rounding
For those critiquing form - his upper back rounds a bit, which is common for guys that lift more weight that you ever will. His lower back remains straight (neutral) the whole way.
Every time I see him in WSM I just wish he'd started competing at a younger age, he's one of my favorite competitors, but even before it starts you know he's not going to end up in the top 3 =/
Gonna go for 100kg next workout (3x3 90kg, 1x1 95kg today), recently got past my previous record I had before I stretched my hamstring (while I was sick & not lifting, ironically enough) multiple times & other BS -.-
I like Felix and wish him every success for the future. I watched (on TV) when he tore his bicep doing the d/lift at worlds strongest man. It was a totally unncessary injury, since the bar was welded (no turning) and so he could have use a straight grip not a mixed grip. The position the mixed grip put his bicep into, caused the bicep overload IMO. Shame, but I hope he's fully recovered.
Awesome, but what I've noticed is that he has a SLOW pull from the bottom, but a super fast and strong lockout, probably the reason why he doesn't dead over 900lbs yet.
Many people deadlift like this its just how they feel more comfortable. Don't you think they tried using more legs they have been training for 15+ years.
just watching WSM on tv, mark felix in the qualifier deadlifts did 7 barrels like 20 seconds faster than the only other man in his group to get to 7 barrels. what a player!!!!!!
well tbh, not amazing from, but spose thats just how stright ya back is, it depends on the person, who cares its only deadlifting, this is great, GOOD ON YA MARK!
its good form if you want to lift with your lower back, if you want to get the most out of the lift than you should use legs. Lifting weights is more about form than the numbers you put up.
Actually - it is all about the numbers you put up if you compete in a strength sport like powerlifting or strongman. I think you need to get a clue here dude. This isn't some guy that is deadlifting for fitness purposes - this guy's ultimate goal is to move as much weight as possible.
@rjpe99 just because someone can lift a weight up, doesnt meen he has the right tecnique, thats a straight legged deadlift, very few person that dont damage the lower back L4-L5 vertebra with that tecnique. And thats a fact!Good tecnique is when you lift a weight with the minimal risk of injury.
@fitnessmies his form is fine... you can see that before he lifts, his knees are bent, so it's definitely not a stiff legged deadlift. and secondly, when he lifts, his shins are more or less perpendicular to the ground (the bar basically slides up his shins), so the risk of a lower back injury is minimized.
When HE says one more.....dont trust him.....he means more like 5 more!!!! lol watch this guy mature over time...his 'fairly' new to this...an awesome lifter of natural power.truley great representing the uk.
Imagine if he started out earlier he probably could've written himself into the history books as strongest man alive. So much raw power it's scary to think he only just started out in the sport.
Yeah, because an 858 lb. deadlift is somehow nothing compared to 880 lbs., right?
Seriously, this isn't football. Leave the armchair athlete calls somewhere else. Felix is an excellent deadlifter, and the dude is getting stronger every year in his early 40s. Give credit where it is due.
scary back strength!Ive pulled 250kgs before for 1 rep..considering his height which i think is about 6ft4 same as me,makes it even more impressive.Makes me wanna go and lift some heavyass weight.haha..Go on son!
"Felix learning the correct way to deadlift from Alan and the guys at Adlington." Besides moving his stance in a bit, what did you change about his form? I'm just curious becasue mark's form never struck me as "bad" just unique
We (well, Alan) moved his stance in, as you say, hands in quite a bit too, start position a little back (further from shins), work on pushing knees forward in the start position and driving with the legs to get it moving. He tended to stiffleg weights up, which is ok if the bar starts high but was limiting him off the deck on a conventional bar.
It's always funny seeking all the weaklings in the background walking around thinking they are also an athlete.

I dont know of much people who have the strength in their upper back to stop it from rounding a bit with that much weight in their hands

@lukekhealth rounding of the thorasic spine isnt an issue on deadlifts, its the lumbar region that you really dont want to be rounding
