a ducati is not known for break downs this particular bike was built for the simple reason for ducati to continue to race in world superbike when carl fogarty was the king. All the manufactureres complained that this motorcycle was not a production motorcycle so in order to race this bike in world superbike ducati had to make 2000 units for sale to the public to continue to race, hence the number on the triple tree and the face that you have to maintaine it as a racebike not a jap. bike

I have a 996 and whenever i stop at lights and the generic jap crap roles up, I can see the rider just drooling over my Ducati, I wouldn't ride anything else......well maybe an MV F4 :-)

.every Ducati is masterpiece for it self...not so mass production like Japs ...some unique technique solutions ...etc ...all answer would be too long..

- Exclusivity: they've got a different target market than other brands.

- Better components quality: Brembo, Öhlins, Marchesini... and not only because of the brands.

- Beautiful Italian design.

- If you're not european, then you can understand it will be more expensive to buy one.

good question, but atleast they look much better than the japanese bikes. And maybe the have better performance when they have most wins in superbike, but twice the price for an Ducati instead of a japanese bike feel little to much..
