Sorry guy, youre wrong. The french Imperial Court was friendly to CSA but Napoleon III did not want to engage France on the field because of political context in Europe and the French Intervention in Mexico (1861-1867). I quote the Emperor himself : « Si le Nord est victorieux, j'en serai heureux, mais si c'est le Sud qui l'emporte, j'en serai enchanté. » (too much tired to give a translation). It means that everything is good to lower US power but CSA was forecasted to be a good market !
