im a sti fan all the way but if im going to auto cross its going to be in a evo i see the sti as a very nice daily and a rally car and i see the evo as a nice auto x racer.
@CLUMZYLB They're all super reliable. The Subaru and Mitubishi were built with rallying in mind so they're both solid in terms of reliability, and the S2000 is a Honda, and everyone knows Hondas last forever. I would go with an STI just because I've always loved them, but they're all great cars really.

I Had 2 new Subaru STI PPP's,53reg & 55reg,loved them both-especialy the 55 reg with active diff.Now have 57reg EVO IX FQ360.Not a lot in it speed wise,Evo quicker off the mark as less lag than Subs but Subaru pulled quicker through 4th,5th & 6th.Subaru was brilliant for handaling but honestly the Evo is on another planet!!! You will NEVER find a car that handles better than the Evo especialy with A048s on,even in the wet its awesome,& as i said i loved my Subs.
@CLUMZYLB get an ap2 s2k or an 06 evo or an 05 sti. Those I believe are the better models in the US. I like s2k's, but out the box. the evo an sti will just do the same thing just like this video to the s2k.
As for being reliable. All cars are reliable, if you take care of it. If you beat on it, your gonna have to fix it once it does break.

No no, I get what you are saying, and fun / boring is again, up for personal preference. What the video of evo vs sti from top gear. They even said they would choose the subaru over the evo, even tho the evo was a second faster around the track because of the acd and super yaw control. The advanced computers in the evo are for turning. The car doesn't drive for you, it just helps with understeer, etc. So I don't get why, you say the EVO is a boys toy compared to the STI. It is all up to personal preference. The same reason people buy nissan, bmw, etc. They just like the car better. But mod for mod, evo beats sti out.

Driving back and forward to your hair salon is hardly likely to cause stress to your engine, but driving on a race track is.
The R32 was not designed for racing or rally racing such as the EVO and STi were designed for. The GTi and the R32 were designed to be touring cars, plain and simple. EVO's are monsters but that is all they are just speed and handling. The GTi and R32 have incredible interiors, excellent build quality and are all around decent performing cars. They are the ultimate all around package for fun long term driving excursions! So fast=EVO or STi, Class=R32 or GTi, I like german engineering myself.
But the R32 was £32k new wasn't it? And for that, there's a few Audi and Bmw's that'll be as fast, with more room, and even better interiors. At the end of the day, it's still a slow Golf with a chavvy bodykit. Because its so slow, having the AWD is pointless.
VW should have stripped it out, with a supercharger, AND a lower price. Sort of like the Dodge did with the SRT4.

This means it is running the KKK K04 Turbo instead of the KKK K03s fitted to the GTI. From results of a tuned S3 (Custom map, full exhaust, uprated fuel pump and custom mapping) you should be able to see circa 330bhp.
Well let's see e3 spark plugs,high comprsion pistions, forged push rods and crank, with a roots type blower, a 15 lb bottle of nos tht will push 250 hp. And magnaflow exhaust. Edelbrock headers , and high flow efi injectors. And the tri power 427 ss will pump 500 hp and 430 lbs stock do you want me to go on. I'm also apart of a drag team in Idaho.
@Vega9393 ha. so much for this "drag team". if you knew anything, youd know that you cant just slap on bigger injectors. you cant just put in bigger injectors with out some way to control them, you would just run rich all the time. The ECU will still trigger the bigger injectors as if they were still stock. Each time they open however, more fuel will flow out. The car would be slower and you would just hit the ECU's fuel cut.
Which one of the 3 would you drive across the country in?.....the all round best of the 3 is EASILY the R32. So what if it loses a street race? How much time do you really spend racing? If it's A LOT, get used to no license and steel bars IF you survive. German builds scrap Japs.

@mattmidlands Thats because the r32 is so boring that you will never be tempted to drive fast, but in the Evo and Scooby its impossible not to drive fast all the time.
Driving back and forward to your hair salon is hardly likely to cause stress to your engine, but driving on a race track is.

The R32 was not designed for racing or rally racing such as the EVO and STi were designed for. The GTi and the R32 were designed to be touring cars, plain and simple. EVO's are monsters but that is all they are just speed and handling. The GTi and R32 have incredible interiors, excellent build quality and are all around decent performing cars. They are the ultimate all around package for fun long term driving excursions! So fast=EVO or STi, Class=R32 or GTi, I like german engineering myself.

But the R32 was £32k new wasn't it? And for that, there's a few Audi and Bmw's that'll be as fast, with more room, and even better interiors. At the end of the day, it's still a slow Golf with a chavvy bodykit. Because its so slow, having the AWD is pointless.
VW should have stripped it out, with a supercharger, AND a lower price. Sort of like the Dodge did with the SRT4.

Lol @ all these morons saying "AMG throw a turbo on the R32 and itd beat both of them" or "take off the turbo and theyd suck". Do you not realize they come from the factory with a turbo? Why the hell are you talking about removing stock parts? Evos and STIs aren't just 4 cylinders with turbos "thrown on". They have far more sophistication than that and it's going to take a bit more than a R32 throwing on a basic turbo for it to even keep up.

@UnseenKhaos The new Golf R's that are coming out, they replace the R32, have a 2.0 T pushing out 280 HP. The new ones are going to be way better, and hopefully faster.

@th3b0uld3r ya. my dad words for a VW dealer, the new R model is just called the R, replacing the 3.2 with the same 2.0T from the GTi only with a remapped ecu. i know the awd drivetrain is redesigned also, so hopefully the car will be a lot better.

@UnseenKhaos The R20 although the same block as the GTI actually has the same setup as the MK5 Edition 30 & 8p S3. This means it is running the KKK K04 Turbo instead of the KKK K03s fitted to the GTI. From results of a tuned S3 (Custom map, full exhaust, uprated fuel pump and custom mapping) you should be able to see circa 330bhp.

Well let's see e3 spark plugs,high comprsion pistions, forged push rods and crank, with a roots type blower, a 15 lb bottle of nos tht will push 250 hp. And magnaflow exhaust. Edelbrock headers , and high flow efi injectors. And the tri power 427 ss will pump 500 hp and 430 lbs stock do you want me to go on. I'm also apart of a drag team in Idaho.

@Vega9393 ha. so much for this "drag team". if you knew anything, youd know that you cant just slap on bigger injectors. you cant just put in bigger injectors with out some way to control them, you would just run rich all the time. The ECU will still trigger the bigger injectors as if they were still stock. Each time they open however, more fuel will flow out. The car would be slower and you would just hit the ECU's fuel cut.
