  • Nice, I was looking for an idea like this. 5 times a week I provide my chickens with fress water. Thats a bit to much of my effort. I gonna try to make this. It would be even more educational if you subtitle the video (in your language, English). txs

  • It sure is....what is your time worth?

  • its more expensive with the bucket!!

  • Great vid my friend! Thanks! ;)

  • Thank you! I just need to work the same ideas into a much smaller scale for my 1 month old chickies.

  • cheap and simple. exactly what I was looking for. Thanks!

  • So fucking simple...!!!

  • excellent thanks!

  • this isn't only for chicks but also bees thankz mate

  • HOW DO YOU KEEP THE CHICKENS FROM CRAPPING IN THE WATER?

  • Why can't you just put the holes at the bottom so you don't have to flip the bucket?

  • Annoying mosquitoes

  • great videos mate!!!! :D: :D

  • I've done this same thing for my chickens but i would add that to keep algae at bay in the buckets, put a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar per gallon of water - esp so in white buckets - & the chickens' water will be algae free & no harm done to chickens or altered taste in eggs!!

  • This is so cool!!!

  • Great vid! Can you bolt the pan to the bucket so you can hang the whole apparatus from the ceiling?

  • how can i make one that doesnt get full of chicken poop and pine shavings?

  • Plastic pans work too !

  • hey thanks it actually works

  • cant find a metal oil pan to save my life, there all plastic

  • awesome ideas...thanks!!!

  • If they are water tight and air tight then you should be fine.

  • can you put srews in the bottom with washers or will the water go throught the washer

  • @poultryguy11 if you use silicone to seal it up you would be fine. You Might want to use aquarium silicone just to be safe.

  • Hey Kylikk19 it should work. Please post your results for others and thanks again !

  • Just bought the materials and tried it! Love it!!!! We have lots of chickens so I'm going to try the same thing with a large garbage can for the food.

  • This is great! We have spent so much money on these items! Can't wait to try it.

  • Using shallow pans allows more dirt and debris to be kicked into them by the birds. Use a pan that comes up to the top of their legs at least when possible.

  • Very helpful. Thanks so much! :)

  • Thanks so much ! Glad I could help. I just wish I had m own show !

    Ric

  • @steelworks lol just lost 6 bird today because I forgot to water them...ok so looking for a good idea...trying to figure out where to get a more shallow pan lol thanks

  • @thefmgirl I purchased mine at Walmart in the pet department. They were less than $2

  • awesome works great

  • Thanks for the comment and the "heads up". So far I have used every type of bucket and pan and cannot tell any difference in the eggs or health of the chickens as long as they are kept clean. I think that almost anything left dirty or not refilled often will definitely not be the right thing for sure. Thanks again !

  • hey, one thing to consider... I've read that typical 5-gallon buckets are made out of a type of material that leaches harmful chemicals into the food/water you are storing in them. But, if you stick with food grade plastics (like the buckets from a deli... I think used in this video... sorry, no sound atm), it's a great/inexpensive DIY solution. Also, I'm not sure what kind of metal that is that he is using, but I have seen some stuff that speaks against galvanized metals (can't remember why).

  • Great tips thanks.Big time saver.

  • @mreastky thanks for the kind words ! Glad I could help. Let me know how they work.
