if you put pieces of regular tape where you dont want to draw you'll get a more clear cut sort of look and, if done right, it will look like it's supposed to be there.

I got a tip, you should get a thin brush then squeeze some ink out of markers and mix them a little and start painting so you can get a better highlighting xD.

@VitaDiligo i went to my local book store on campus where i buy my art supplies for classes (art major) and found oil paint markers but no acrylic. will these work or will the card resist the oil paint marker? i would have bought them but they were $3 per marker and i didn't wanna waste that on a fail.

@eternaleevee Most of the time Acrylic markers barely work on Yugioh cards so Oil might either be a worse case or it could be the other way around. That Oil works better than Acrylic. At the moment I don't know. If you have the spare $3 then go ahead (Let me know how it goes if you can), if not then I will probably buy one and give it a go.

1 hint: for the next time you extend straight lines on a card (like the ones on the Militum here), you could use a ruler, so the lines you draw are more straight/straighter/whatever, sorry for my bad english:D

Also i think that you would really benefit from using some kind of masking to make really straight lines or just avoid paint on areas where you don't want it.

umm they aren't tournament legal as the weight is altered. extra-deck cards altered in this way are, though.

@DarkArmedMudkip Yes they are legal if done properly, just look it up. Also if weight is the problem why the hell did they make Hobby League cards legal? They stack like hell and weight a lot more.

@VitaDiligo idk about hobby league cards, but at regionals and up, you aren't allowed to use MOST altered cards, but if the weight has barely changed, like with sharpies sometimes, they are legal. Acrylics tend to add more weight though. Extra deck cards dont matter about the weight.

Toothpicks and acryllics so that you can get any shade, highlight or tone needed (greyed or saturated), and the ultrafine tips of toothpicks make altering trading card art much easier.(since you need to look twice, for every one stroke, minimizing the chance of noticible cutting into what you want to preserve)

I actually have a question, does your paint markers bend the cards or have any effect on them? because im trying to do the same thing to my magic cards and wanna know how well the markers work over regular paint and such.

@RickysAlwaysG You would have to use a lot of paint from the paint markers. I have used normal Acrylic Paint mixed with water and that would be the thing that would bend them the most. From what i've done so far I have had no bending just bending from Acetone I use sometimes to remove the card. If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
