I wish i knew a bit more about this kind of music, its hard for me to find more music done by this man or anyone else who singes as well as him. I am american with no Middle eastern family or know anyone close to me who enjoys this type of music and can steer me in the right direction to find more music like this. If anyone is up to pointing me in the right direction i would very much welcome it.  Thanks

@lilithseraph I know less than you most likely this is the 1st song I've heard by him but anyway he has music on amazon. Check wikipedia for Ghazal music, and 1 famous singer I know of and just discovered the name of(I remember hearing him years ago but never knew his name) Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan. Seems he is the cousin of this guy in fact. Wish I knew more and could help. Oh yeh was gonna say Pakistan isn't middle east some say even Iran isn't so Pakistan is a definite stretch. Anyway good luck

actually he sings it all. he only needs an audience and someone to ask him to do so. singers like him often perform according to what the audience desires. perhaps he should stick to the original classical andaaz and stay true to it.

Shafqat is due to perform with us in Montreal on May 16, 2009, then in Ottawa with CPA on May 17th and probably in Toronto on May 23, 2009.

He may have other plans which I do not know about.

Kabir Cultural Centre in Montreal will be hosting him with help from other music lovers and the Canadian Pakistan Association in Ottawa who will also have an event. I am just the person who has tried to put it all together for them and the artist.

I am bit confused. Is shafqat ali and shafqat amanat ali khan the same person? They look quite different. I was searching online for the album " the tilted cap" by shafqat ali. I checked the website of shafqat amanat ali khan of fuzon.

Yes it is confusing at times.

No they are not the same person. Shafqat Ali Khan (above) sings classical and is from Sham Churasi Gharana. He is the son of the Late Ustad Salamat Ali Khan saheb.

Shafqat Amanat Ali is of Patiala Gharana and is the son of the Late Ustad Amanat Ali Khan. He is the one in Fuzon and his present style has evolved and is obviously not as close to classical, though the base may have been so earlier.

Thank you for your comments. Shafqat sings a whole big variety of kalam. Some of it is very close to how his father sang if that is what you are interested in.
