  • Anyone has a parachute?

  • @jtmjtm2001 haha

  • Yikes, some engineer is going to get his arse kicked. Good pick up though. You should have asked the cabin crew to show the footage to the pilots while you were in the air perhaps.

Did you notice if it made any noise, like a buzzing or whistling from the air rushing over it?

  • @ben7k no never noticed any noise. I did speak to a cabin crew member on the ground but she was busy talking to someone I didn't have her full attention so gave up. She did shy she would tell the engineer but the trouble was the panel was sitting back down upon landing unless you knew where to look it would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

  • I'm on this flight (QF 132) next Sunday...I'll look into it.

  • @Jules5 i got a reply from Boeing and they sent an alert to Qantas.

  • @paulwilco so the bit sticking up doesn't matter then. Well that's good to know. Thanks PW

  • It's not 'Normal' so to speak, But it's no problem

  • @umpalumpa101909 How can you say it's not Normal but it's not a problem in the same sentence?

  • @mikeycbd Easy, For example, Just because something is not normal, doesn't mean it's a problem, it simple means it's different to the Majority of others, which are classed as normal, if that makes sense

  • @umpalumpa101909 it does make sense but you can't ignore it and I did get a thanks from Qantas in the end for highlighting it to them because they said the engineers would never have seen it on the ground.

  • @mikeycbd I totally agree, You can't ignore it, Even the tiniest thing can cause a major problem, All though usually either the Captain or first officer check the wings from on board, Good job you were there i guess :P

  • It looks the same in your other video: watch?v=yMBjGGHGKco

  • @george7378 The link isn't working?

  • @mikeycbd It works for me - you have to put: youtube.com/watch?v=yMBjGGHGKco into the address bar.

  • @george7378 yes its the same flight and as I was making the video (and filming it) I thought that didn't look right so i did one to get some input, which i have received. :-)

  • @mikeycbd OK, no probs! Has it been solved?

  • @george7378 No idea. I was given the Head office phone number and after a run-around and 10 mins on hold I hung up. it's toooooo difficult getting through to someone. Even though i had told the lady what the call was about she said oh i'll put you through to customer care and see if a job has been logged. ...

  • No more window seats for you!

  • @alaricdogface hehe

  • Hey Mikey, I'm a fully qualified youtube aviation expert. I have a degree in aviation from youtube. My detailed analysis has led me to believe that this is definitely not normal. Maybe I should go and check it out someday.

  • @Triple777ER There is always one :-)

  • Anything that is or looks not normal should have been actioned immediately no matter how small or trivial it is with air travel because you can put a price on the cost to replace an airline's aircraft but not on the people that trust their lives with the people that fly the aircraft or the owners of the airline company.

  • @maltaman28 As you may have seen below, i told the cabin crew, i also wrote to the airline to make sure but I got an automated reply once they had allocated me a number for my query. I then phoned the airline and said could I get an engineer or someone and I got put through to domestic and international flights. So i thought i'll post it here, someone is bound to know.

  • Was it like that before takeoff? I would have told someone! haha rare find ;)

  • @alex9734 I told the cabin crew when i left but she was busy talking to someone so not really sure if she understood what I was talking about. never noticed at take off.

  • it's as normal as A380 engines exploding in mid air i guess :)

  • @JerdooFlightX ! Exactly.

  • @triciagalinahardy09 oh well that's okay then....

  • You'd think it'd be flush with the rest of the engine cowling

  • @ChorleyClaret1981 yes my thoughts exactly but I could be wrong. thanks for taking the time to comment.

  • I'm far from being an expert, but I have done a lot of flying as a passenger. I'd say in excess of 300 flights. I've never seen anything like that before.

  • @russdownunder1 Thank you!

  • @mikeycbd Hey Mikey i would think it would have to be flexible so it dosen't rip off the engine, Just like a wing flex, it must do that to prevent ripping off the fuselage..
