Dude below who talked of the framelock version of the SE failed to mention it was an aluminum framelock. Trust me jd you don't want that. Granted it had a steel insert it still was aluminum lockbar wich over time will get REAL sloppy. Can't wait for the SE review brother.
I am very happy to hear you are going to be doing more reviews of the affordable/ lower end knives. I love a wide variety of knives but I dont really want to pay more than $60 for a pocket knife. I also want to know that what I am buying can take (at least) edc tasks and hold up with still having a working edge and frame.
When you talk about the stick on the liner lock of the knife is that bad. What does stick mean to the health of the knife, or is it just annoying when there is stick.
@jdavis882 Yes please and thank you. It would be great to see a video on this subject. I have an emerson knife and the liner sticks all the time. I also notice it on some cold steel knives that have the tri-ad. Thanks again.
I have a CRKT Ken Onion Ripple with IKBS that is an awesome little EDC blade..I also had 20Cv in my 3 inch hinderer...it's like D2 but better stain resistance...tuff stuff.
@SuPpAvIlLiN Oh haha!!! Nah "Mall Ninja" is a term meant for those people who keep themselves decked out in the latest "tactical" gear and act like they are Navy SEALS although they live in their mom's basement.
Google "Gecko45 Tale" and read the hilariousness. Gecko45 is what started it all.. :)
@jdavis882 I like your videos bro, I wouldn't come in and bash ur shit. I just thought you made up a word for those cheap ass knives you find in the mall with crazy blades and spikes coming off the D guard n shit.
I hope you do the CRKT cut test. I have owned a few of their knives without complaint. I passed up a Shenanigan because I couldn't find anything about the steel, so....
Those socom elites are really nice. I'm not really into otf knifed because they're way too expensive for what they offer, although the halo v is impressive, that thing is built like a tank. They have new socom elites with carbon fiber instead of grip tape. How's bg42 steel? There's a blade I'm interested in with that steel, but it's not wildly used.
that is a microtech i might really get to like. i definitely want your review on that. also did you get the crkt with the factory edge still on it. ive seen they come polished to some degree. in your judgement how polished is the edge from factory?
Couldn't agree more with you on the lower end steels. my tenacious in 8cr13mov has been finding its way into my pocket far more than anything else, and like you've said before it just takes a ridiculously fine edge.
Good to see some low end tests/reviews! I;ve got a Ripple in acuto steel. It's alot like VG10 in terms of rust resistence and grain structure, edge retention I dont know. So lets test it!
You should check out the CRKT Ripple. It's another Ken Onion design; same quality and blade steel as the Shenanigan. I could go on about it's amazing value and looks, but you can see for yourself with a quick google search.
Mine has torx screw too. Just got the SE today.

amazing, love the Socom Elite, please review Bro.

It's odd that microtech will use regular torx screws on some, and their proprietary screws on others..please do a review on it
drumrboy80 1 month ago
@drumrboy80 I found it a little strange as well. Even some Socom Elite's made in the same month have the proprietary screws, and some don't.
And I will. :)

@Red1Storm Haha that is best explained through video. Too much info to cover in 500 characters. Would you like me to do a video on it?

Does mall ninja mean "cheap wild looking import junk"?
SuPpAvIlLiN 1 month ago
@SuPpAvIlLiN You referring to the Microtech? It's definitely not cheap, or junk. Very well built knife. :)

Testing sub-$100 knives is a good idea. We all want quality and durability, but don't want to pay a lot. Please review the CRKT.

No need to ask of course we are interested. Agree with the Mall Ninja comment and oddly enough I know exactly what you mean.

@PavlovSandor Yeah the factory edge was more polished than most. The front belly portion was really sharp... The rest was just ok.

If VG-10,AUS8, and 154cm is what you consider low-end I insist you do an edge retention test with the infamous $1 Wal-Mart knife or Mtech's 440a haha
