You might think that NATO went after libya because they wanted the oil. You would be forgiven for thinking this, but mistaken. Oil was most definitely on the agenda, but the real reason NATO went after Libya was on behalf of the Americans to stop the Dinar becoming the standard for oil trade in the Arab States. And to stop Gaddafi nationalising his banks.
