I think this song is about suicide spurred by misanthropy and his weakness facing it. He's talking to himself. Listening and watching around him, no one cared/nothing relevant. Takes a a break from his depression/madness, goes to a diner, then he has to run away, go kill himself, cause no one cares(swing a cat, hit a soul)
Mercy killing on the way(suicide), never thought I'd hear you say(misanthropy), falling on your knees to pray now(weakness).
One is the best one will ever have. Love yourself.
@kingofthedrums it can't be Pennie cuz...it just doesn't sound like him. And I agree with Thelaofkazi. irony is a dead scene's version is by far superior. That one's for sure Pennie and i love me a good dillinger pennie combo. Nothin like it.
Eh, Patton's version is just so god damn sexy though. Not to mention, listen to "Irony" then listen to the intros to songs like "Highway Robbery" and "Setting fire to sleeping giants" it sounds as though Puciato was trying to channel his inner Patton.

I actually like version better then one off "irony is a dead scene," its more rough and unpolished sounding, which for some reason I like.

heh well on the other hand puciato is no patton :) as much as I respect greg, patton's technique and timbre is out of his league
