I know I'm like a year too late for that conversation but I just wanna say that it really doesn't matter if Neil is gay or not, he is an amazing actor, and even if he wasn't gay he could still not be a player so it's still not who he is. Him being gay changes absolutly nothing as to how I see Barney. So to sum it all up I love Barney, I love Neil, and I absolutly ADORE those songs and they've been stuck in my head for years, since I first heard them!!!
