I read a book by this guy, Maurice Chatelain, former chief of NASA Communications Systems. The "face" was imaged - modern orbiters, unfortunately not a face, a natural rock formation. Shadows, fuzzyness convinced some it was a "made" face, not natural. I "wanted" it to be a made structure, alas not. View modern images, it'll be apparent to you. The pyramids are also natural. Lots of geology & reading aerial photos under my belt here.
