WOW! I have neever seen a carboot find like this. The seeler could not have had any clue what so ever what they sold at all. So many amazing things, not only the 1920's dress but the silver, beans, vintage doilies and so on. The list is so long. I'm completely amazed.
Wow! It was like watching a treasure chest being opened. I do so appreciate your being sensitive to the use of tusk and animal parts. As you showed those handmade items I could imagine the shop girls and women working hard on fancies that they could never afford. Those things have a real history.
Bravo Raymond!! I would definitely have some of the jewelry pieces appraised before disassembling. I would actually wear most them! The laces are absolutely gorgeous; I don't know if I could put them on a project. The piece from the 1920's, again, I really don't think I could take it apart, but I guess there's really nothing else you could do with it.... Enjoy all of the wonderful goodies and I so look forward to seeing what you create with it all.
Some cracking finds there Fiona, I just love, love, love all the old lace and clothes. Well done! I send my hubby to the carboot and he comes back with tyres and law mowers lol! TFS. Hugs, Sharon xXx
Boy do you have a wonderful scrubby hehe (Ray) I love all that he got...cant wait to see you make that bird house for your granddaughter. TFS Hugs Nettie
I am in love with the jewerly, the pagan, the heart and all the butterlfy ones.. this was like watching a history channel show on the vintage laces and clothing, hearing about when it was made and how.. Awesome.. what a great haul,~GIN
I've never seen a vintage haul before. Absolutely amazing! What beautiful pieces. You are right, you don't see craftmanship like that today. Just amazing. Way to go Ray!
Your Raymond is a bit of diamond. Look at all the teasures he found, well done Ray. Love the laces and the butterfly necklace. Looking forward to see what they all end up on :O)
I'm not sure it is Ivory and if it is what type of Ivory you could always do the hot pin test. Raymond did well again and got some stunning things. Hugs Sheron
@OpaqueWhisper I tried the hot pin method on several of them, it didn't dint them, it didn't scratch them or anything apart from the blacksoot from the pin I used. When cleaned you couldn't see anything at all. I would say they were real but am not convinced there from an elephant either now since looking at them under a powerful scope I use for my fossilling. They are more like Walrus. Well its the only match I could find on the net for the colour, grain etc! Still not nice :( xx
OMG! OMG! Ray is fabulous, What wonderful goodies and I can not believe you have car boots in winter, we have to wait until April for ours to start again. Amazing finds, the bird house is so cute, can not wait to see what you do to it! big hugs Tricia xxx
@alittleshabbychic I thought they had shut down for the winter too, I'm going next week because he said there were plenty around and lots of goodies he wasn't sure to get because I'd asked him to get me gems instead lol lol lol xx
oooh im sooo jelouse! amazing stuff, your Raymond must be a brilliant help to you hunting out those things that help you in your work! I have one of those, his name is Eric. I am making photo frames inspired by you thank you so much. I love watching your video's X : )
