I think I started teaching her when she was 1, 1 1/2? I can't honestly remember. But she picked it up right away and in a strange way helped her spoken vocabulary as well. I would recommend it to every parent.
that is what me and my 2 girls are learning to do we have a deaf friend so we are learning alot we already have the abcs down well mom dose but we are still working on it.
Every country has their own sign language (based in cultural and historical things) but surprisingly many of the ASL signs are same as in Finnish Sign Language, like "banana", "candy", "bread" and "play".
If you have a grumpy day and everything goes the wrong way, watching this signing clip is best medicine for blue mood =)
This is a great video. Signing with hearing children is a very effective way of teaching the importance of communication and cutting down on frustration. Thanks for saring the video. Others should know that there are simple tools like books and videos to help teach hearing children sign language to enhance communication.

What a great signer! When did you start teaching her? I also especially loved the "I love you" sign!

Ella was just a little over 2 years old at this time. Mommy's a linguist so I think she inherited some language abilities for sure. :)
