I love Utada, but I don't think this is one of her best performances. Also, for some reason the studio didn't seem like it was a good environment for this performance. I agree with another poster that instead of going with her "top song", it would have been better if she went with a ballad. For example, something with less instrumentation backup (maybe just one guitar or piano), where utada can really showcase her voice above all else.

This kinda pop has worked well in Japan but will never pass in USA which is one of the reasons she has retired from music. Though she tried she could never penetrate the US market because she lacked meaningful, understandable yet blue love in her words like she had in Japan. Has she outsourced to writers? At the beginning of her career she had a chance but after she put her name on kingdom hearts it was... YES she had the voice but this stuff doesn't have the poetic message love of mistaken. :-(

These songs arent very good, especially when compared to songs like Passion. I think she's trying too hard to get big in America by releasing music that fits perfectly in the mainstream instead of just writing songs like her Japanese ones. Easily better than America's pop stars thought. Also I'm not sure if she does this on her Japanese songs because I don't speak Japanese but these songs are too blatantly sexual. Not that I have something against that but I don't see her as that kind of writer.
