i've tested both the sirfstar 3 gps chipset and the qualcom and the sirfstar 3 is slightly more accurate. I have found the qualcom is maybe 10 metres or so less accurate. Unfortunately most mobile devices are using the qualcom chipset now. Its pretty good but sirfstar 3 is more precise by 10 or 20 metres. you might find when driving qualcom chip takes longer to detect a new road turn than sirfstar 3. im not to sure but i think only sirfstar 3 supports WAS in north america which is very acrt

No, You don't need wifi or a data plan. It's great, just wish it had the voice activation like the droid does.

no, navigon will use the in built gps to traingluate your position using satellites. navigon maps are all installed in your phone and you dont need edge or 3g.

copilot live 8 is the best iphone satnav app i have tomtom on it to however its not as smooth as the copilot plus it has more features and is cheaper in the app store. although im using a jailbreak :P. get the copilot if u want the best!!

BUYER BEWARE. Navigon is a dishonest company that has abandoned thousands of customers who purchased GPS devices in the last year. Their Navigon USA (Chicago) site provides no hardware support, map updates or customer support. The sad part is that their GPS was a good product and offered innovative solutions to the industry but without software, map updates & warranty support, the product is useless. Buy from this company at your own risk.

Maybe there is something wrong with your antenna. I downloaded my Navigon over the internet for free and have no problem with it. You should go to open area where there isn't much tall buildings then try. Also, try some other navigation software, see if it is the software or hardware problem.

Jailbroken iphones, can use an app called "instalous" where you can download all applications cracked. Or you can find the IPA file on torrents, with an aysnc patch you can instal cracked apps on your itunes. If i never knew about jailbreaking, i would have never baught an iphone :)

I bought the same app from app store on my Iphone 3g and its running perfect may be you have the iphone 2g or or 1generation im from canada too and its workinf perfectly fine otherwise if your Iphone is 3g there is might be gps issues with it with he signal you can take it to your service provider ex rogers/ fido and they can help you out hope that helped

For the most part GPS requires "Line of Sight".. meaning it must be in a place where you can see the sky. It does work indoors but can be impaired.

In cars is the worst, thats why most car mounts are on the window. Get yourself an iPhone Window car mount.

Test not so successfull in southern Europe. Navigon says "turn right" where there is no turn at all. It is best not to listen to it but just look at the map. I hope they will correct the software soon somehow.
