1st off... the division of territories during both World Wars was stupid, and done without regards to the people living in this area!!! 2nd, the continued division of countries into smaller ones is also stupid... We should be combining our resources, knowledge, etc. Macedonia is partly in Albania, FYROM, Bulgaria, and Greece. If someone conquered you country, and you could only get part of it back, maybe 1/4 of land. Would you still want to call it by it's original name?
That case is about liberation of Vardar Macedonia, Ohrid in 1941 - holy bulgarian land. It was liberated from yugoslavian-serbian occupation by bulgarian army and local people was very happy about that. You can see that from this clip.

As for 4th century...there certainly were other people on the Balkans, but not Bulgars. Bulgars settled north of the Maritsa River where they remained for 2 centuries. The first Bulgarian Empire of Isperich lasted briefly at around 680AD. The Second Empire of Krum and Omurtag was some 2 centuries later.

Bulgars settled on the Balkans speaking another language. They came there 200 years after the slavs and 1000 years after Macedonians. Macedonians assimilated with Slavs and adopted the Slavic language. Bulgares came later and for 200 years were 500km further north. They eventually assimilated with Macedonians and adopted the Macedonian dialect of the Slavic language. There is no Bulgarian language. If there is one, then it is found in Ossetia or elsewhere.

Respond to this video... Should not be the issue in my opinion i beleive all people living in Macedonia have the right to call themselves Macedonian. In regard to attrocities and mistreatment of Slavic Speaking Macedonians My Grandmothers sister married into a family from a village in Northern Greece she was arrested and beaten for speaking the Slavic Dialect they ended up emigrating to Canada because they would not declare theselves as Greeces i hope things get better for everyone.

The King of Bulgaria sold his people to the Nazi regime in order to save himself!!! But given his choices both were bad... Side with Russia, or side with Germany... Bulgaria was quickly being surrounded by the Germans... and at the time Russia, didn't appear to be doing well... In the begining of 1941 Germany and Russia were allies, Brits were far away, Americans were not involved in the European matters. In this case Bulgaria had no protection against the Germans. We could cooperate (what we did) or resist (which was not reasonable at this time).
We should not forget that this happens only 23 years after the great defeat in the WWI and for Bulgaria this was the only chance to reunite its lost regions.

1st off... the division of territories during both World Wars was stupid, and done without regards to the people living in this area!!! 2nd, the continued division of countries into smaller ones is also stupid... We should be combining our resources, knowledge, etc. Macedonia is partly in Albania, FYROM, Bulgaria, and Greece. If someone conquered you country, and you could only get part of it back, maybe 1/4 of land. Would you still want to call it by it's original name?

That case is about liberation of Vardar Macedonia, Ohrid in 1941 - holy bulgarian land. It was liberated from yugoslavian-serbian occupation by bulgarian army and local people was very happy about that. You can see that from this clip.

Actually you have the two backwards... Macedonians thought Yugoslavia was their liberators, but instead like Bulgaria, they tried to force the people of FYROM to adapt to their culture and language!!! But I am not expert, so someone from Macedonia can explain it to you better. Also this is just small piece of history, it is like watching video from after Iraq and/or Afghanistan war, they were happy. Now watch footage about Iraq/Afghanistan. They are not as happy. The status of Thrace and Macedonia can only be a partial explanation of the motivation of King Boris III's government, but it in no way justifies or excuses its actions. While it is true that the post-war status of these territories was not formally finalized among the allies, their wartime status was perfectly clear - these territories were unter bulgarischer Verwaltung - under Bulgarian administration. They were ruled by Bulgarian military authorities in accordance with Bulgarian law.

The Kingdom of Bulgaria had been on the losing side in World War I, losing territory to Serbia and Greece. During World War II, Germany needed military access through Bulgaria in order to attack Greece. Adolf Hitler promised the Bulgarian Tsar Boris III that Bulgaria would receive all the territory she had lost in return for Bulgaria joining the Axis. Boris agreed and signed the Pact on March 1, 1941.

Well actually the Southern slavic languages are divided into two groups - Eastern - Bulgarian and Macedonian(which are just two slightly different forms of the same language) and Western - Serbian, Croatian and all other South slavic languages.

As for 4th century...there certainly were other people on the Balkans, but not Bulgars. Bulgars settled north of the Maritsa River where they remained for 2 centuries. The first Bulgarian Empire of Isperich lasted briefly at around 680AD. The Second Empire of Krum and Omurtag was some 2 centuries later.

Bulgars settled on the Balkans speaking another language. They came there 200 years after the slavs and 1000 years after Macedonians. Macedonians assimilated with Slavs and adopted the Slavic language. Bulgares came later and for 200 years were 500km further north. They eventually assimilated with Macedonians and adopted the Macedonian dialect of the Slavic language. There is no Bulgarian language. If there is one, then it is found in Ossetia or elsewhere.

Hey, I said around 10th century to indicate I was not quoting exactly. The year was 864. But thatks for confirming the substance of what I said - that Bulgars converted rto Christianity some 200 years after they set foot on the Balkans, on Danube north of Maritsa river.
So Bulgars spoke ossetian (Turkic/Iranian language) and converted to Christianity in a language they adopted from the local settlers, the Macedonians who spoke a Slavic dialect. That is the real world.
