I think the english are jealouse of our heritage and land, this is why they invaded so many times in the past.
Emsion- jealousy, that must be it! (Just between you and me,the English were probably pleased with the fertile lowland 1/2 of Britain.I can't speak for the Norman lords who plagued the Welsh-they wern't too nice to the English either)
Well if the welsh hate the people who had no control over there own government and King then we might aswell hate u back the welsh are always going on about how great they are when they never invented anything great nor good England is a much more successful land why the fuck would they be jeaous of a little country next to them the only good thing are the mountrains and scenery when was the last time Tom jones went back too wales anyway.
which scores points for the Welsh - they know how to get over it and use it to their own advantage in the end - thanks Normans for buidling some of the castles for us!
Many of our castles were built by Welsh lords (eg Carreg Cennen and Dynevor) so apart from the castles built by Edward I most of our castles are Welsh
Not all of them. Dolbadarn and Dolwyddelan for example where built by Prince Llywelyn the Great (a native Welsh Prince). And although originally built to suppress the Welsh, some of Edward I's castles (such as Harlech) were key strongholds for the Welsh during Owain Glyndwr's rebellion and were also used by the Welsh Lancastrian supporters during the wars of the Roses. So on some occasions the castles actually guarded the Welsh civilization.
haha yeah it rains most of time where i live too, if any place is as green as wales or where i live it needs to rain! :P Yeah it pretty much rains 6 months of the year every day where i live, then the other months it rains half the time, haha
i live in wales and i really do love this country, im from the Rhondda valleys in south wales
the valleys are a beautiful place with the rhigos and the bwlch mountains so close, i ride a motorbike, and i love riding up the mountains, grabbing an ice cream up the top and checking out the scenery :D great vid btw
LOL! You obviously didn't stay through the credits! ;-) It's called "The Lamentation of Turlough O'Carolan" performed by John Doan on one of the Hearts of Space albums. I have to admit, though, I felt rather sheepish using music composed by an Irish harpist to go along with my photos from Wales. But the music matched the essence of feeling for that trip so well that I didn't really have a choice. Enjoy!
Yep! I loved Llangollen! Castell Dinas Bran was one of the highlights of the trip. One of these days I hope to make it to the music festival held in Llangollen - I've heard wonderful things about it!
Greetings from America! I have been to Wales and found it exceptionally beautiful and the people friendly and gracious. It is one of my favorite countries in the world. All the best to Wales.
I'm part welsh, and I've always wondered what it looked like there. I finally did some research and came across this video. It's so beautiful... thank you for posting. :)
nice video but there are even nicer pictures of wales that you could of put in. for example the snowdonian range that area has some epic scenery, im Welsh and i live in North wales and i live close to moel fammau of the clywdian range its so beuituful there come and see for urselfs its gret :)
The photos used in this video are all images that I took myself. Unfortunately I have only been to Wales the one time, and given the 5000-mile commute from my house I don't know when I will get back to explore more of its wonders. Rest assured, when I do make it back to Wales I will create another video with photos taken on that trip.
Moved from Wales 2 Canadian Rockies. As amazing as it is, U know it.. I miss Wales like crazy. Watchin this, just breakin my heart in 2. Wales will always be home, no matter how long I last here. Forgive me for abandoning you, my lovely dear homeland - Wales. I always felt so alive there, yet restless to explore the world. Now I know how much of the world there is in Wales. Its all there, the spirit of nature,.. absolutely wonderfull. Love U & miss every square inch of U, esp the Gower, damn!
I'm also descended from the Welsh Morgans, but my "restless" family only wandered around south Monmouthshire plundering the local flora and fauna and the maiden population. Your so right, you must make the effort to visit "God's chosen country" someday, its so peaceful, I wouldn't swap this place for absolutely anywhere. Welsh women are very attractive (Catherine Zeta Jones and Catherine Jenkins!)
LOL You obviously didn't stay through the credits! ;-) It's called "The Lamentation of Turlough O'Carolan" performed by John Doan on one of the Hearts of Space albums. How sad to see a few negative comments about Wales below, clearly people have nothing better to do than to badmouth the truly wonderful, beautiful and peaceful land of Wales. Thanks for sharing this lovely video.
That was beautiful!! So gorgeous and serene!! I loved it!! Makes you realise how, not only do we take it for granted ,but how often do we ever stop and take the time to really absorb its full beauty! The traversty is,that the majority of people living in Wales today, haven't forgotten how beautiful Wales is,or how lucky we are to live here,.. No, its that they've never known!! How truly sad is that!!
I'll have you know I've yet to shag a single sheep and I've lived here all my life. Hardly anyone knows what Wales is? Well then that says more about the likes of you, not being educated/informed enough to know what Wales is. You've obviously lost a boyfriend to a nice Welsh girl, as you really are very angry. You should come and visit Snowdonia one day, beautiful place, you might see that the world doesn't have to be as hateful and ugly as the world you obviously know.
Beautiful. Thanks for the great video, miss Wales very much... beautiful place, nice people. I lived there a decade ago. Wish i could go there one last time.
I live in England and occasionally visit Wales. I take my kids aswell. It's good because I love that game they have for the kids on the motorway signs, where underneath the place names there's a scrambled-up word for the kids to try and work out
best u tube video i have seen you have done a great job i am going to wales aug 2009 now i cant wait to go after seeing this well done thankyou. Mary Sydney australia
Well, the Welsh came from Spain and Portugal originally. I've only been through North Spain but love it, especially Galicia. Of course it rains in Wales more though, but yes most of Wales is very green and pretty.
Diolch Yn Fawr, Bron. Thank you so much for showing to the world the beauty that is the Principality and my home. Funny how ex-colonies look at their ancestry here and i, born and bred, look to a slice of my ancestry that is dutch ;) If you walked the Dyke then you may've come thro the town on the dyke which is my adopted home (born in the south) and i am privileged to enjoy a beautiful part of Lloegyr/England as well.
meant to add that you mentioned llanthony priory(30secs) but just wanted to say that the other religious structure is Tintern Abbey (32 secs, 3:22,) on the Wye Valley between Monmouth and Chepstow. Anyway, ty once again :0)
i live in california and im part scottih but when i first went to scottland and walse i felt like i was at home like an emtyness i me was filled..one day i hope to live in walse or scotland

I'm Welsh, but I don't feel in any way connected with South Wales, AT ALL. It's like on the Welsh news I'm being told about my local sports teams..Swansea..Llannelli etc, but they are not local at all to me, as I am from the North. Liverpool and Everton are much more local.
I say split Wales in two, North and South, or just join the North onto Northwest England.
But we'd be sacrificing the most beautiful part of our land to England. Then what would we be famous for? I'm actually really sorry that you feel this way. Local sports teams mean nothing to me, I love Wales for it's beauty alone.
me too, my families acnestors owned part of a southern county place in Wales in the war of the roses and they fighted in that war too, i forgot what place though it started with a L
This is a beautiful video and I am so sorry you disabled embedding. I was born in Wales and had been hunting for a good video to share with friends in the U.S.A. This would have been perfect. I so enjoyed it.
I wish I knew what area of Wales this is, north or south. I was born there and lived there until I was four. Have returned several times. Would have loved to remain there.
I would wanna live in wales , I like the langauge. It sounds like something off of "Lord of the rings" or something. It's a cool langauge and wales has the best throughout of the british isles! I'm from America. I may end up using my vacation days to go there one day.
i would love to live in wales... just thinking waking up every morning to a nice counryside and rivers with big fields... instead of me living down london grrr, i hope one day will live in wales
This was a very rich pictorial-(my father was from Wales) and one of my favorite pieces of Celtic music. A very beautiful creation, and the Shakespeare verse at the end sent shivers up my spine. Thank you!
dude, not even swansea is as bad as london, and i aint sayin a live in the ritz, but reely the worst we get is a cuple of wannabees hanging round in hoodies, dude its fine, and the clean welsh air would do you good if ur a londoner.
Beautiful slides of a beautiful country. As an American, my family came from Wales in the 18th century. We began with two brothers who landed in Massachusetts from Wales. My Welsh forebearers eventually migrated through the Southern U.S. I will visit Wales soon.
Beautiful video. I'm glad to see Wales still is so beautiful. I toured through South Wales many long years ago but didn't have time to visit up North. Maybe next year...or the next after...when I brush up on my Welsh. At a minimum I like to pronounce the names of towns right when I ask directions...;)
Two of my best friends are from Wales! They're the friendliest and most loving people I've ever known!! Greetings from the U.S. :)

God bless. : )

LOL You obviously didn't stay through the credits! ;-) It's called "The Lamentation of Turlough O'Carolan" performed by John Doan on one of the Hearts of Space albums. I have to admit, though, I felt rather sheepish using music composed by an Irish harpist to go along with my photos from Wales. But the music matched the essence of feeling for that trip so well that I didn't really have a choice. Enjoy!

Blush!!! I listened to the end, but had started to read the comments and missed the credits completely...Sorry.
Thank you for answering though! That way you just got another click ;-) Now I have seen them too.

How sad to see a few negative comments about Wales below, clearly people have nothing better to do than to badmouth the truly wonderful, beautiful and peaceful land of Wales. Thanks for sharing this lovely video.

You dont know what Wales is? You must know what Wales is you typed it in the search bar to view a video about Wales.

You've probably never been to Wales.

PS -I love England too

I live in England and occasionally visit Wales. I take my kids aswell. It's good because I love that game they have for the kids on the motorway signs, where underneath the place names there's a scrambled-up word for the kids to try and work out

Best wishes from red kite country :0)

This comment has received too many negative votes show
I'm Welsh, but I don't feel in any way connected with South Wales, AT ALL. It's like on the Welsh news I'm being told about my local sports teams..Swansea..Llannelli etc, but they are not local at all to me, as I am from the North. Liverpool and Everton are much more local.
I say split Wales in two, North and South, or just join the North onto Northwest England.
ptpt1 3 years ago
But we'd be sacrificing the most beautiful part of our land to England. Then what would we be famous for? I'm actually really sorry that you feel this way. Local sports teams mean nothing to me, I love Wales for it's beauty alone.

This was a very rich pictorial-(my father was from Wales) and one of my favorite pieces of Celtic music. A very beautiful creation, and the Shakespeare verse at the end sent shivers up my spine. Thank you!
